Re: carrier signal, anyone?

I think a vocoder emphasizes the differences in sound spectrums of different input signals / synthesizers. It's like trying to create upper harmonics or doing octave multiplication with two oscillators and a ring modulator. If the two oscillators differ in their behaviour just slightly, the ring mod...

Re: Share your synthesizer music!

Great stuff guys!

... so I've uploaded another one. Here is the second track of my "Singularity" album with Formant Modular System, Moog Prodigy, Solina String Ensemble and Yamaha PCM Organ:

Re: 950 Keyboard circuit

Ok, it was a silly question. I was mislead by the expression"trigger", as for me this is a rather short pulse. On the other hand a signal which lasts as long as a key is pressed I know as "gate". But of course a keyboard provides the information how long a key is pressed, also a ...

950 Keyboard circuit

Hi,

a question concerning the maximum trigger pulse length of the 950 circuit: How long does it last? Does anybody know that (Perhaps Kevin :) )? The internal trigger pulse length of my Prodigy (measured at the 556 dual timer) has a duration of about 2 seconds (maximum of course).

Thanks

Re: Prodigy Osc 1 broken

Just a note that generally a 3086 *should* work fine instead of a 3046. There isn't a big difference. The 3046 is very slightly better on temperature specs, but hardly worth mentioning. Fwiw, there's also the military version, the LM3045J. I stock the CA, LM and the J versions, but as you've found,...

Re: Prodigy Osc 1 broken

Hi, my Prodigy shows the same behaviour. I bought one on eBay, and after receiving it it worked for exactly half an hour  Suddenly, the same as you described. I opened it and found two LM3046 on sockets. I put the first LM3046 into the second socket and vice versa. The problem moved from oscill...

Re: 921b clone ?

Hi cloners, reading the threads concerning the 921 clones and studying the schematics I've not understood yet why a "ringmod" - chip is used for syncing. Hard sync is easy: just reset the oscillator core in the middle of the cycle by an externel reset signal. Soft sync is a bit more tricky...

Re: Prodigy Troubleshooting

Hi, fuse blew is bad, so you don't know the amount of electrical damage and the original reason for it. If the oscillators and filter are still running, it's good. If you hear something when playing around with the release on / off switch of the filter section I would look at the ADSR circuits at fi...

Re: Can really an moog modular be cloned today?

I remember a document I read last week or something. Some people were trying to match transistors the way explained in some vintage moog literature. Although they reproduced the test work-bench graphically depicted in the doc, their own work-bench was not able to match the transistors with good eno...

Re: power supplies for Modulars..stated and actual?

Normally the ua723 (plus power transistor) based power supplies (like the one of the Moog Modular) should deliver exact voltages until the maximum of modules (meaning maximum of consuming current) is reached. No need to run voltages higher + or lower - to compensate higher current consumption. Carsten
