Re: Moog 904A (9504A actually) love!

Absolutely d'accord. The only improvement potential I thought about when I was cloning it lies in a voltage controlled regeneration function like the Memorymoog filter does or other later filter implementations.

Fantastic. Very atmospheric and impressive. I like synths in classical and / or sacral environments very much.

Re: MemoryMoog Hex Reading Incorrect

Perhaps you have a problem on the data bus. I had a similar defect (reading wrong data) on a self developed Z80 microcomputer board. Reason was that one or two bits / tracks of the data bus didn't have proper electrical contact to the eprom socket. So the Z80 was reading e. g. 0x7A instead of 0xFF f...

Re: Added PWM to one of my 901a's...

Wouldn't it be better to control the PW for each oscillator separately? Controlling the PWM from an oscillator controller (901A, 921A) means all dependant / controlled oscillators create the same square pulse width, but I would say PWM is a feature of an oscillator itself, the unit which creates the...

Re: Moog Vocoder

What are the chances that the mighty Moog might one day release a new, gorgeous analogue vocoder? I'd sell relatives for one!!! I can only dream Hmmm, is this really a good offer? Depends on the relative... Another question: Do the schematics of the old one exist somewhere or better to ask is there...

Re: Mini Moog D OSC gone Super High

One of my Prodigy oscillators had the same problem, caused by a dead transistor array. AFAIK the Mini has SG 3821 arrays inside, perhaps one of them went to the happy silicon hunting ground. If they are in sockets you might do a "quick" check by exchanging two of them (OSC2 <=> OSC1 perhap...

Re: Moog modular PSU hum

You could check the output voltages with an oscilloscope. If they are dirty / have higher frequency oscillations on the output rails this could be a hint for a defect, but not totally dead component like a power transistor. These oscillations can be heard as a hum or noise in the transformer or can ...

Re: Moog Limbo Challenge?

Well, once upon a time I went into subsonic frequency ranges with my modular. It was fascinating to see the cone of my bass speaker coming out slowly following the sine output of my VCO. Ok, you could not hear anything at all, but the energy is there, believe me. It cost me hundreds of bucks to buy ...

Re: carrier signal, anyone?

I think a vocoder emphasizes the differences in sound spectrums of different input signals / synthesizers. It's like trying to create upper harmonics or doing octave multiplication with two oscillators and a ring modulator. If the two oscillators differ in their behaviour just slightly, the ring mod...
