Re: Model D reissue Mods

You can tune your reissued Minimoog yourself if have a decent voltmeter. It shouldn't need tuning any time soon either unless you live in an extreme climate. Always let it warm up before worrying about it being in tune :-) I totally forgot that people tune synths with meters. :D Kevin always used t...

Re: NAMM 2017 - Moog Music

Why couldn't we touch the new Mini?. :?: :?: :?:

It works. It's wonderful. It's worth not paying some greedy dealer $5k+ for a Mini that might have problems down the line. It could have gotten best in show like the OB6 did last year.

Re: Many questions!

The original trimmers were wirewound and aren't made anymore. I used to sell them, but I sold off all my parts nearly 3 years ago. The mod done here is one approach to solving the problem of obsolete parts I've never seen before. :? Don't replace any caps if they are original. The original polystyre...

Re: Many questions!

Figuring out the mods might help if we could see behind the back panel and under the modulation section. :)

Re: Model D reissue Mods

Anyway I have heard of people having certain modifications done to their older Model D's, things like oscillator sync and others I cant think of right now. I am wondering what the pros and cons are with having any of these done and what the most popular mods have been. Also IF someone were to have ...

Re: Model D service

Your tech sounds like a guitar player. There are a lot of myths being perpetuated around guitar circles like certain brand names of capacitors sounding more aggressive more high end more bass. I'm an EE and I can tell you that is pure unadulterated snake oil. He speaks the truth! As someone who has...

Re: For Moog Taurus I owners

I decided to put up a page for the board and show pics of what this rev looks like: http://www.minimoog.net/daphne/moog-taurus-1-replacement-contact-board/ I now have the advantage of living where the post office will deliver to your door! I have 4 ready right now and they can ship tomorrow. :) It's...

Re: For Moog Taurus I owners

Assembly for the next round of T1 contact boards should begin at the end of the month. My target ship date is Christmas, but something tells me New Year's. We'll see how it goes once the first one is made! The new boards will be black to distinguish them from the ones Kevin made, which are either gr...

I was taught by Kevin that this means one of the fuses is out and needs to be replaced.

Re: New Model D ?

Hope this link works, it goes to gearslutz where there is a twenty minute demo of a new model d. https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/1086408-new-moog-minimoog-d-40.html#post12019890 If I close my eyes, it almost feels like I'm transported back in...

Re: Keith Emerson Tribute at El-Rey in LA

Or perhaps Keith Emerson's girlfriend was a bit offended by like Greg Lake's remarks: http://www.express.co.uk/news/obituaries/652126/Emerson-Lake-Palmer-bandmate-feared-for-ELP-star-Keith-Emerson Ouch. I'm sure what Lake said is true. I'm also sure that it would be hard for Mari Kawaguchi to read ...

Re: Really Vintage MiniMoog

The oscillator board was upgraded to the latest one with the resistor arrays. Standard practice when getting a Mini serviced back when they were in production. Some über purist collector would balk at that, but a Mini is an instrument, not a bragging right. Filter board is vintage, that's ...

Re: Really Vintage MiniMoog

I am the owner of a minimoog model D which I purchased used in 1974. The s/n is on a handwritten tag inside. It is 1051. It was made at the Trumansburg "factory". I have tracked it through the moog site and found that Walter Sear was the original purchaser. We know that walter bought and ...

Re: New Model D ?

Hey there @luckynerd. Hope you are doing well! I think Kevin would have been tickled pink by the new/old D. I sold my last Model D in 83, but I have a new one on order to go along with it's (way) older bigger sister. They were supposed to ship last week, but the factory has delayed the shipments to...
