Topic: What do the Moogers think of the the Rhodes Chroma?

Up until very recently I owned three Chromas... now I'm back down to just the one but it sits under my memorymoog and Voyager quite nicely and complements both moogs well. I wouldn't get rid of it as I haven't been able to find another synth, either hardware or software that can replace it (please s...

Spike

Thanks for the clip . . however, I don't think that truly shows off the Opus3 at all . . . As stated in a previous thread . . I'll have my Opus back in a month or so and I'll post some clips as it really sounds MUCH better/richer/warmer/smoother then that clip.

I thought the Opus had no CV Gate, is that correct? Is it possible to add that on? Just wondering. I doubt it, as the Opus isn't a synth it's an organ. It uses divide down circuitry to get polyphony so even if it was possible to modify you would only get one note . . which note? Having opened an Op...

Welcome Dr T . . and thanks for the great review! what we really needed was someone with both instruments side by side as I could only comment from remembering what the multi sounded like (and Nick too). When I had all my moogs together (Prodigy, Source, Multimoog, Minimoog and Voyager SE), I was ab...

Ezzo

I would love to do that for you . . just that my Opus is in a storage unit in London at the moment . . and I am in Ireland. I hope to be shipping out all that stuff in the next month or so . . I'll put up some clips then.

You sound like you know what you are doing . . so ebay will work for you. I buy from ebay, but I tend to buy stuff that isn't working as i can get it cheep and restore it myself . . which works great for me, but for some (possibly Ezzo, with his original inquiry) this would be problematic.

Each to their own I say . . and I have bought GREAT synths that turn out to be lemons . . and lemons, that turn out to be GREAT synths. If you can . . always go play the instrument before you buy it . . test all the knobs and buttons and make sure that it's the sound you are looking for . . ebay is ...

Someone once said . . .

"synthesizers should be monophonic, polyphony is for pianos!" (Morton Subotnik I think?).

Hi Eric I sold my multimoog a few years back and I wish that I hadn't . . but at the time prices were rising and I got twice as much as I originally paid for it . . ho-hum. From what I remember, the multimoog sounded very different to my model D mini . . . on the face of it the multi has a load more...

Actually I disagree . . . I think, for a vintage sound, the Opus3 has some merits. Yes, it's not going to create strings as good as a modern workstation and it possibly doesn't sound as good as some of the ARP string machines that had dedicated filters and envelopes but there's a lot that can be don...

At the time I was just a customer . . . Richard asked me to build his website once he got to know I was a website designer . . and i made a few comments about his first "home-made" website . . a few months after purchasing the memorymoog. Knowing what RL Music is about and having experienced their s...

Yeah, I've only been here a few months having moved from London . . the whole town is one big venue. Don't get to see many moogs though! (lots of whistles and fiddles).

Let me know if you make it here again.

There are many people who will not even blink at the prices . . you think they are over the top then fine, you don't have to shop there. As I said before, it's all down to what you want to buy and your knowledge of it . . you say you can restore a Rhodes yourself - great, then you'll not need this s...
