Re: Harald Bode retrospective exhibition

The exhibit is a the Estey Organ Museum in Brattleboro, Vermont. It's open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, during the summer 2010 and 2011. More information about the exhibit is available on this recently-launched Harald Bode WordPress blog: http://haraldbodenews.wordpr...

Re: Vintage Modular Moog for Auction

If you follow the link to the WordPress blog, it has a link to the Vemia Auction.

If you look at the asking price, and then use Google for the currency conversion, then yes, a fortune it is :)

13,000 British pounds = 20,014.8 U.S. dollars

About as far away from a Moog as you can get

Hi, everyone, First of all, nice new look! Secondly, it's nice to see the return to civility here again. I hope our lost members decide to come back. Lastly a little humor for you :) (or at least that's how I see it -- I'm certainly not hoping to stir the pot again!) You've probably all seen this, r...

Same place. The electronic organ is in the same museum as the pipe organ. The electronic AS-1 will be worked on later this spring. It's still functional now, but one of the original techs who built it will be reconditioning it a bit. When it's "on the table" and opened up, I'll get some pi...

I thought I would let this thread rest for a while, but I finally decided to revive it just a little bit. So... speaking of polyphony, late-1950's style... here's the Estey AS-1, designed (by Harald Bode) and built right here in my home state of Vermont. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2779/441812007...

For music (as opposed to gear), I have found this site really useful for keeping up with both new stuff, and also reissues of old stuff:

I know it probably won't happen, but I hope this inspires Moog to release a 2 oscillator monosynth that combines the best features of the Prodigy, Rogue and MG-1 into one box and is the same size as this thing. Well the LP has lots more features than all of those synths you mentioned and you can ge...

Since the Dark Energy was raised as an alternative, what about waiting a few months for the $800 DSI Mopho Keyboard edition? I'm aware that there's a difference in sound beteen Moog and DSI, but if you wanted a 2 oscillator knobby analog monosynth with mod wheels that wasn't an antique, that looks l...

You might also want to search this forum for posts about the black foam goo the crops up with the MG-1 and Rogue. In a nutshell, they were made with this black foam on the circuit boards that breaks down into goo over the years. Some folks leave it alone, some folks take it off.

I Think Doepfer is Reading This Forum Again

I don't tend towards paranoid ideation  but I think Doepfer must be reading this forum. Check this out: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/doepfer-dark-time-sequencer.jpg This sequencer is not shown at NAMM as we could not finish the prototype in time. In the first pl...

anyone know any synth techs in the Boston area?

Anyone aware of anyone who works on synths in the greater Boston area? As usual, am trying to avoid shipping stuff if possible. I'd like to upgrade the power supply in an Arp 2600. Sorry, it's not a Moog question :D

slightly OT: what's a pad?

Hi, there, So I've been reading some online reviews of synths. And in them I always encounter a sentence like this: "great for leads, basslines and pads." So I feel like a total dummy... I've been making electronic music for over 20 years (though generally not in a pop idiom) and I'm stump...

And Alan Pearlman is still alive, isnĀ“t he? Maybe an Odyssey NexGen is in the works... Last month I ran into a guy who used to play in a punk band in the 80's with Alan Pearlman's daughter. He think's he's still alive. Just checked the 'net, though. According to the timeline in the Analog Da...
