Re: Gain staging between Synth FX and Master FX
Thanks for having a look Tom - I appreciate it! The signal entering the FX is mono, the docs discuss this - but what should happen is that when the Synth FX are 100% dry, that dry signal should still pass in stereo to the VCA. I.e. it doesn't make sense to "grab" the dry signal and mono-iz...

Re: Gain staging between Synth FX and Master FX
I might politely bump this - is anyone getting stereo / gain problems detailed above when using mod FX?

Re: Lisa Bella Donna
I was searching on a related issue, and someone in a Gearspace forum posted something similar about an earlier patch bank. This was their solution: The gain on the chorus in the synth level effect section is set to 0%. Either increase the gain or turn off the synth level effects and you will hear th...

Re: Gain staging between Synth FX and Master FX
OK so I spent some more time with this, and I even tried a complete wipe + re-initialization of the user space, with no luck. Here's what I'm seeing - can anyone be so kind as to confirm / deny they are having the same experience? This experiment should only take about 30 seconds and I would be so g...

Re: Gain staging between Synth FX and Master FX
I've always had this problem, and it has never gone away. I'm currently on v1.5. Any suggestions? Is this something that one of the new calibration routines might help with?

Re: Noise issue, is this normal?
I trust we've all seen the polyphony option in the latest FW (1.20)? From the Unison/Mono More page, if you reduce the polyphony for a Synth, only actual active voices are heard in the signal chain (removes the background noise created by voices that aren't playing). For example, on my 16, cutting i...

Implement a shortcut to "zero" bipolar pots
It's often really difficult to hit the "zero" position on bipolar values (e.g. Env Amt, Pulse Width, etc). I find myself opening the More screen for that param group and having to work hard to hit 0%. After 2 cups of coffee, forget it  This is probably my only gripe with the speed of ...

OK I'm not the only crazy one
Those are all good suggestions - I'll put this in the FR thread, with a link back to this one. Cheers guys.

Re: MOOG not recognizing new firmware file
This exact thing happened to me - what I did was remove the USB stick, re-insert it, wait a moment and try again. Then the firmware file showed up. For some reason it wouldn't recognize it if it was plugged in on boot, but hot-plugging it made it show up.

Re: Beat Frequency not consistent
Yeah I guess the magic formula is "a little bit" of beat, and combining it with normal freq detune. Despite having worked with many synths, this is alien territory...!

Re: Beat Frequency not consistent
Thanks for the reply, Till. (Sorry I am not getting reply notifications despite checking the preference a million times!). I've read up on other implementations of the "beat" approach to tuning, and it seems the beat frequency usually tracks the keyboard . Again, the use of "Hz" ...

How to efficiently "zero" pots
So, for bipolar params like Env Amt or tuning, I find myself constantly needing to bring up that section's screen in order to hit the "zero" mark. Example: I accidentally adjust Env Amt for the State Var Filter instead of the Ladder (because they share the same knob), and need to return it...

Re: Beat Frequency not consistent
I can confirm this as well. The maximum effective range is about an octave + one half, anything on either side of that and it descends into quarter-tone dissonance. Thing is, I'm not sure about the spec for beat freq. The units on the front panel are in Hz and not semitones , which seems weird to me...

Re: Responding to MIDI CCs
Yeah I'm on v1.1.0 and have read the docs. As mentioned, there are destinations that are not selectable in the MIDI Mapping dialog, even though they are sending hardwired CC data. This is what I find weird. That hardwired CC data has existed for several OS versions, and my understanding was that v1....
