Re: Sq. Wave growls on Matriarch polyphony?

Thanks for the analysis. I semi-verified this also by reducing all 4 OSCs in the mixer to 9:00 positions, then cranking up the VCA-main a bit to compensate. This resulted in less "growl"/distortion with 2-voice harmony.

Sq. Wave growls on Matriarch polyphony?

Help me understand what I assume is basic physics. When playing the Matriarch in 2-Voice mode and using all square wave OSCs, I get a bit of a "growl" when playing 2 notes other than an octave. Doesn't matter if Sync Enable is on or not. I've been very careful in getting the Frequencies tu...

Re: Matriarch: Using the Expression Pedal as a Volume Pedal?

I'm using Moog's EP-3 pedal which is TRS with switchable polarity.

Re: Matriarch: Using the Expression Pedal as a Volume Pedal?

I use the Exp Pedal Output CV into BOTH VCA 1 & 2 inputs and it works great. I have a CV "knuckle" but you might also use the onboard MULT.

Re: External device into the Matriarch Delay?

Plugging into the front Delay Inputs "replaces" (cuts) the Matriarch's signal to the Delay. I'm wanting to have both Matriarch & GM using the same delays. I also thought about somehow using the rear Delay Outs, but that doesn't get it either.

External device into the Matriarch Delay?

The Matriarch's signal flow puts an External device (plugged into the rear Ext. In) through the Filters, VCAs, then Delays. I'd like to just use the Delay only (from Grandmother) without VCF/VCA processing, but I don't see any way to do this without replacing the normal VCA1 or VCA2 signals from wit...

Matriarch Delay: Time & Space twisting

When turning the Spacing & Time knobs using the Delay, I get wild frequencies moving around. Kind of cool actually, but I don't understand why. An inherent design feature?

Re: Clock sync issues

I changed my external master clock and strictly using MIDI. Everything seems to synching up now. Maybe my previous master clock device was the problem, so I made it a slave. :?

Re: Synth Clock, PPQN, Rate knobs

I changed my sync clock to a different device and that seems to fixed things. Geeeez!

Synth Clock, PPQN, Rate knobs

Since I haven't been able to get my Grandmother & Matriarch to keep their Arp/Seq clocks sync'd in the month after getting the Matriarch, I'm studying synth clocks a bit more in depth. The GM & Matriarch default Clock In/out rates are 4 ppq ("16th notes"). The general MIDI DIN stan...

Re: Grandmother Dark constant background note

I just heard this on my Grandmother also. But if I use headphones instead of running to my mixer, no noise. Doesn't sound like that's a GM issue, though no other instrument running to my mixer (Behringer Xenyx), has any underlying noise. Tried a different TS cable with no remedy.

Re: Clock sync issues

Now the GM has drifted off the Matriarch clock. No firmware or cabling changes. They have the same tempo, just a beat off. Something's not right.

Re: Clock sync issues

After weeks of messing with various connections and firmware settings, I may have found a fix. Disconnected MIDI from my Grandmother and connected Clock CV from Matriarch into the GM. I still use my Ext. Clock MIDI INto my Matriarch. I had tried this setup initially with disastrous results. But some...

Clock sync issues

I am trying to sync the clocks (Arp/Seq Rate) from my Matriarch into my Grandmother. I am using rear panel 1/8" jacks (Mat Clock Out>GM Clock IN) (All firmwares are up to date) The two will only sync when the Matriarch's Global Settings #28/Clock Output= " Only When Playing ". The GM ...

Re: Matriarch Paraphonic Playing "style"

I've settled on all VCOs having identical Octave & Freq. settings, though I might keep 2 different Waveforms. This allows me to play a bit more piano-style. But all the variations of firmware settings didn't totally fix playability for me. Paraphonic playing definitely is a different style than ...
