Re: HELP: Minimoog Model D or Minimoog Voyager?

You have lots of good responses here. Let me put in my two cents. If you are recording and want that true Minimoog sound, go for the Model D. To my ear nothing sounds like it, although admittedly I have never seen or heard an OS. The OS might be my second choice if it captures that Model D shimmer. ...

Kevin, I understand your silence as permission to use the photo with no limits. Thanks Jarek That is EXACTLY what Kevin is talking about in this thread! How can you take his SILENCE as permission?? Permission would be a written or oral agreement between you and Kevin to use his photographs. Maybe h...

Of course it's been hot-rodded to hold up better under the rigors of the road.
Isn't that something akin to hot-rodding a Lamborghini?

The complexity and depth of the Andromeda is a blessing and a curse at the same time....... EXACTLY!! Have you thought of something simpler, like a Juno 106 or Juno 60? Nice pads (the chorus is great!), good bass, not frightfully expensive. Of course you have the Memorymoog. I know a guy who gigs w...

[quote="Kevin Lightner"]It's a very complex synth. No kidding. I almost sold mine after a year of owning it, even after really trying to go through the manual with it. Suddenly though, it just kind of clicked with me and we became friends. I still don't use it to a quarter of it's capacity...

Sorry to hear about your accident. I just have one question.... MY GOD MAN! WHY DO YOU HAVE A MINIMOOG JUST LAYING AROUND ON IT'S END IN YOUR STUDIO?? Mine is sitting on the top rack of a stand, with a halo of lights around it to illuminate it. Mounted on this halo is a set of the new Dyson bladeles...

I have owned an Andromeda for about 4 years (a very early version) and have had zero issues with it. It has made some incredibly wanky sounds at times when I first turn it on, but after tuning it always comes back. Seems to like a couple of tunings, though. I would probably be better to turn it on a...

Minimoog Mod Wheel Cover

I just bought another Minimoog Model D. I shouldn't have, but I can't help myself. Does anybody know what to do about the "varnish" on Mod Wheel cover when it gets cloudy. I have seen pictures of them after stripping and then after re-varnishing, but there is no mention of what materials t...

Thanks for the update, Ghost. That is the first I had heard about a hardware upgrade, but as I said, I have been away for awhile.

Excuse me if this has been asked lately, as I have been away for a while. I did not see it on a quick glance at the site. Are we ever going to see this new update for the Tribute Edition? Supposidly it was going to happen, but I have not heard about it yet, and I see nothing about it on the site (un...

Thanks for posting this Kevin.

What a cute little family! I always try to see Nick and Anna when they come to Portland.

I love the part with their daughter taking the keyboard to bed with her.

Kinda scary watching Nick open up the keyboard, though... Nick, do you know what you are doing there??

Minimoog A440

OK....I have never seen this asked on any of the synth boards that I watch...maybe I have missed it. Everyone knows that analog synths have oscillators that drift, particularly the synths that were made 30 years ago. So why does the A440 tone on my Mini D not drift? I am sure that it must drift slig...

Kevin, I have had stuff like this happen in my own (not synth related) business. It is so outlandish and so unbelievable that you have a tendancy to dwell on it because the guys claims are so incredible. Sometimes you even start to question yourself because nobody could be that far offbase--thoughts...

OK, so I picked up the new Oxygene CD tonight and watched it after dinner. It was AWESOME. If you aren't into synths, you might find the performance boring. As Keith Emerson once said, "Live performance with a (modular) synth is not a spectator sport". However, if you enjoy looking at vint...

OK, I am somewhat out of the loop here.... It appears that there is a new Jean Michel Jarre DVD out?? If so, what is the exact title? One of my buddies owns a record and DVD store and he was unaware of it, mentioning only a $50 import called Jean Michel Jarre--Moscow, which he wasn't even sure worke...
