From Songfacts.com:
"Yes Keyboardist Rick Wakeman plays the Moog synthesizer on this song. It was unusual for a hard rock band to use a Moog back then, which was thought to be a only a "Progressive" instrument." It's a minimoog!

Re: Figure out lead voice on Sly Stone's High on You
Sounds very reminiscent of Billy Preston's work with the Arp Pro Soloist. Shouldn't be too difficult to create a close approximation on a Voyager: Single oscillator into resonant low pass filter. Pro Soloist filter may have been 2 pole (12db/oct) as opposed to Voyager's 4 pole. Add some fast vibrato...

Re: Voyager Old School or ARP Odyssey mk2?
I don't really understand what you mean by 'keyboardy'. The vast majority of integrated mono synths do have a keyboard. A keyboard is just a controller and, as a controller, the keyboard on the Odyssey is a little one dimensional. It triggers a sound and that's about it. The keyboard controller on t...

Re: Voyager Old School or ARP Odyssey mk2?
The Arp is a great sound effects machine. It's modulation capabilities are really nice. If this was a choice between a mid 70's Minimoog and a Mk. 2 Arp Odyssey and your main interest was in creating sound effects, then I would most certainly recommend the Odyssey. But a 21st century Voyager is ligh...

Re: Voyager Old School or ARP Odyssey mk2?
My first synth was an Arp Odyssey Mk.2. I currently own a Moog Voyager and have spent quite a bit of time recreating Arp sounds on my Moog. They're very, very similar instruments but I would give the edge to the Moog for the following reasons: It has an extra VCO, 2 full ADSR envelope generators, th...

Re: patch
Can you post an audio clip of the sound your curious about emulating? Working with the title alone: "Analog" OK, we can do that. "Dark" sounds like a function of filtering. "Square" Square wave(s), I presume. Got those. So, yeah (probably) albeit, monophonically. Best, ...

Re: Moog Model 15 modular/Club Of The Knobs vs. Synthesizers
I've always loved the look of the Moog model 15 synthesizer. When I started my dotcom system I based it on the capabilities of the model 15. If you live in the US you're going to get more bang for your buck with a dotcom system. What you'd pay for the COTK Model 15 (plus the cost of shipping, import...

Re: Moog modular users manual for sale ?(or or copy)
There's a pdf "Instruction Manual for Moog Synthesizer System 15" available for free.
Just do a Google search. It covers (most of) the major modules available at the time.

Re: Interfacing Roland system 100 with new Moog equipmen --s
Jauntimus ~ I don't know for certain whether the MG-1 uses an 'S' (shorting) trigger or not (sure sounds like it though from your description) but the Roland gear definitely uses the more 'standard' positive going trigger. There shouldn't be any problem with patching between a modern Moog (which no...

Re: Can Voyager Old School be used for Slim Phatty Poly chai
It's funny but I've seen a number of posts from folks who seem actually surprised that the OS doesn't have MIDI.
Wasn't that the whole point of the OS?? No digital anything including MIDI??

Re: Interfacing Roland system 100 with new Moog equipmen --s
It's all good! Just be clear about who's controlling who and keep a few basic concepts in mind: CV outputs to CV inputs, AUDIO outputs to AUDIO inputs, GATE outs to GATE in, etc. You're obviously going to need a supply of 1/4" to 1/8" patch cords. Experiment and have fun!
