Re: Minimoog D Keyboard Priority Switching mod?
The low note priority is a case of the keyboard sending control voltage to the oscillators. When a lower note is pressed, the resistor on the lower note activates and lowers the voltage. With the setup as it is it would be impossible to have anything other than low-note priority, as this is a hard-w...

Re: Anyone know anything recent about Mike Bucki?
This is a forum run by Moog, so whatever the mods decide to do in terms of removing posts is fine with me. Overall I really dig this forum. It would be sad for Kevin to discontinue his (often useful and at time insightful) posts here, but I respect his actions for whatever reasons he has, and wish h...

Re: Poll: What do you use your Moog gear for?
It's really rare for a musician to be employed as a musician. I use my Minimoog and other gear to make music, and outlay an amount of my income towards building a studio and producing music. I have loved synths and studied analog synthesis at Berklee in the mid 80s so I imagine it could be minimized...

Re: Memorymoog or Prophet 12
Other great analog synths include the Oberheim ObXa, Xpander and matrix 12, Jupiter 8, Jupiter 6, etc.. I like the Moog Voyager and love the old Minimoog model D. In my mind an analog oscillator blows away a digital oscillator. Which is why I'd go for a Prophet 08 or even a Poly Evolver (with both d...

Re: FYI...
Thanks Kevin for your contributions, past and present to the synth world. They are astounding.. You deserve a place in the synth "Hall of Fame" in my opinion.. And it hasn't always been a bed of roses in our communications but I recognize I had the knowledge of a weed compared to you and y...

Re: Memorymoog or Prophet 12
I would prefer the Memorymoog, I believe the Prophet 12 is a "kitchen sink" synth in that all the on-board effects, and the digital waveforms, basically cheapens it. With synthesis, I prefer the analog oscillators, and I would rather sacrifice the number of voices with, say, a Minimoog Voy...

Re: Model D Minimoog Tuning Issue
Also, who performed the "major overhaul?" yourself? A qualified tech?
Secondly obviously a note at the 8' setting should give you the same tone at the 16' setting only played one octave higher (on the 16') setting. Nothing sounds out of ordinary though.

Re: Model D Minimoog Tuning Issue
I just did a major overhaul on my Mini and now I have a weird problem. Everything works perfectly except I cannot tune the Mini to A440 correctly. I cannot get it to play A440 on the 16' setting, I have to go up to 8' to get a440. Basically, it is an octave too low and no combination of the trim po...

Re: S-trigger function on a Percussion Controller/Minimoog D
Could you tell me what kind of and the amount of voltage you're getting through the s-trigger (and which blade) when you strike the 1130? I think I may have wired the wiring harness wrong. All the other connections work except the s-trigger. It is producing between 1.7 volts dc without being hit and...

Re: S-trigger function on a Percussion Controller/Minimoog D
Thanks! I will try reversing the wiring on the s-trig first. This was a concern because, although the PC could be used to alter notes, they were in a "permanently-on" position, so I was not getting an envelope. On the 2 different 1/4" voltage sends, they are different voltage amounts....

S-trigger function on a Percussion Controller/Minimoog D
I have had a Minimoog D for several years and found a Percussion controller for use with it but I had to wire up a wiring assembly by myself, utilizing the controllers service manual. Still not sure whether it is working as it should. I believe it is, but the question I have is regarding the S-Trigg...

Kevin's totally deserving of these kudos! On several occasion's Kevin has provided hard-to-find parts, as well as answers to tough-to-answer questions about Moogs, Roland synths and others.. Definitely no one around like him. Thanks Kevin!

Re: Model D Product Placement during NBA ALL STAR Weekend!
I'm not sure many of the players of the Model D back in the day didn't become somewhat adept at twiddling knobs. I know that is one of the things I never get tired of doing. Presets? Hah! That's funny. I agree that if you don't like twiddling or haven't figured out what they do, you should get a nic...
