Re: Amplifier for the Grandmother

A good powered speaker is lighter and easier to move around than a guitar/bass amp and should give you better dynamic range. Right now I’m using a Mackie Thump 12” and it’s pretty great, especially for the price. The 15” might reproduce more bass though.

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?

For the USA-based owners that have opted for this upgrade, what was your shipping cost to send the unit to Moog? Thanks! I live 50 miles north of SF, CA. It cost me $110 ups ground (including insurance), arrived there in about 4 days, and after a stunningly quick turn around from moog, just got not...

Re: Tips for making the Sub 37 sound like a Model D?

That's an idea! Would I feed my Minitaur into the ext in on my Sub 37? Use them separately in stereo? What's the best way to do it? I've noticed that the filter on the Sub is a looooot darker. The other main issue is getting the oscillators to have that wild, raw sound. There's a whole set of harmon...

Tips for making the Sub 37 sound like a Model D?

I have both a Sub 37 and a reissue Model D. In the middle of recording my band's latest album, my Model D started acting up and the oscillators started jumping 2-3 notes out of tune at random. It's looking like I'll have to finish the record with the Sub 37 - does anyone have an tips or tricks to ma...

Re: Can't update Minitaur firmware

I've tried with both and it seems like it transfers but doesn't. I think the main problem is that I can't get the Minitaur to go into bootloader mode so it won't take the erase or the new firmware. Is there any way to force bootloader mode other than the normal way of starting up with the osc 1&...

Re: Model D Reissue Noise Level

I noticed that my noise level (on my 2017) is a lot lower than the oscillator volume and not really great for making those swooshy, noise-based patches like on my Sub37. Glad I'm not crazy at least, though I'd love it if it had an even noise level.

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?

Sign me up too! I love the Fatar on my Model D and OB-6 but I'd be more excited about the mixer/multidrive upgrade and the improved headphone amp.

Re: Can't update Minitaur firmware

I know that it's receiving commands from C6 because when I run "_Minitaur_Display_FW_Version_Cmd.syx", it shows that firmware v1.1.1 is loaded. Other than that, I can't seem to get it to respond to anything.

Re: Can't update Minitaur firmware

Thanks, I tried that too and no luck. C6 seems to see the Minitaur and I can send the erase and 2.2 .syx files but the Minitaur doesn't seem to respond - the midi light never blinks like it's receiving data and it never restarts. Then if I open the editor, it says that the Minitaur is disconnected. ...

Re: Can't update Minitaur firmware

Is there a way to do a hard reset on my Minitaur so that it'll be able to start up in bootloader mode?

Re: Can't update Minitaur firmware

That's correct. I'm using a USB cable directly to my Mac (with a USB-A to USB-C adapter, since the new Macs don't have USB-A ports.) I've tried a couple of different adapters and a hub, also. The computer doesn't seem to have a problem locating the Minitaur, it's just an issue of a) loading the auto...

Can't update Minitaur firmware

I can't get my Minitaur to take the new firmware. If I use the autoloader, it gets to 99% every time and then says "something went wrong while performing this update, please try again." If I try to manually load the firmware, I can't get the Minitaur to start in bootloader mode. I think I'...

I'm another Sub37 player who's hoping this is in the works. Hopefully the next firmware update will let us see the tempo, bpm and clock subdivision for the arp and each LFO. :)
