MiniMoog Serial Numbers

Is there a numbering convention for the old and new MiniMoog serial numbers? I've seen a lot of 1XXXX serials on the older series and my Reissue is 2XXX. Does that mean that the old ones all had a 1 for first revision etc or is it all sequential up to 13,000? Is my 2XXX reissue one of the two thousa...

Re: Strange marks on Minimoog D face panel

Did you buy this from a place that would have sold a floor model? All floor models get sold off AT A DISCOUNT from the music stores but should NEVER be sold off as brand new. I read online where somebody was stoked they got a MiniMoog Model D VERY recently with a 100 (if I remember right) serial num...

Re: replacement jacks?

Well, the surface mount boards were the only option to keep this in its price range. It's a compromise. I always pull straight out to avoid any angled patch pulling.

Re: replacement jacks?

I had this problem very shortly after purchasing 2 Mothers. Moog will take it back and replace the jack. It was over tightened during production which left the guts hanging by a thread. It worked but the cable could move back and forth when plugged in. Plugging and unplugging a few times pulled the ...

Re: Pitch Bend with a Midi Keyboard Wheel

Sorry for the long time to reply, I haven't been here in a bit. In searching around the web, it linked back here to someone who wanted to change their MIDI pitch bend range from an octave above and below to 2 half steps: http://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=25617 If your DAW sent out ...

Re: Pitch Bend with a Midi Keyboard Wheel

it should already read and respond to pitch bend. I have my controller plugged directly into 2 M32s (2nd one via CV) and pitch bend is spot on. Is Pitch bend out via MIDI disabled on your 2600? Chapter 10 of the manual says to call up the TRANSMIT Page. Here's what it says: Press the XMIT soft button...

Re: Moog font "O"

Thanks all for the info, folks. It IS highly stylized, so it's still fuzzy but I accept the description! Now I can stare at it another 30 years and try to resolve a musical note out of it! (squinting probably helps)

Moog font "O"

I saw a listing of what fonts were used in synthesizers and someone referenced the "musical note embedded in the O" in "Moog". It may be highly stylized but I can't make a musical note out of it! I've stared at it for 30 years and can't place what it represents. Am I being thick?

Re: New additions to Mother lineup yet?

Thanks. I guess you're right. I have 2 Mothers in a 3 tier rack so I might just get the 60hp case and put that in place of a 3rd Mother and start filling it up with modules from other manufacturers.

New additions to Mother lineup yet?

By having the name "Mother", there is a valid assumption of "Children" eventually coming to the lineup. Has ANYONE heard a time frame for additions to the lineup? Hopefully they've caught up with the backorders and can think ahead. I would LOVE to add several ADSRs, a few multipl...

Re: Share your synthesizer music!

Thank you! No it's not real time finger busting. I should have noted that. My timing is not THAT good especially at that speed! I took a mutiltrack MIDI file, stripped out the CC and patch info. Everything but note on/note off info was kept. Moved the filter and modulation points by hand to emphasiz...

Re: Share your synthesizer music!

I posted this in the Mother 32 area but deleted it since it wasn't really the place for it. Then I found this topic. Here is a track I did a couple of days ago. It's the first minute of the 3rd Brandenburg Concerto, 1st movement in the style of Wendy Carlos. I just did the first minute as a test to ...

Re: M32 envelope design (what where they thinking?)

I guess I could use the second M32 as the sustain with a lower filter and have the first M32 as the brighter attack/decay fading into the second M32's sound. Now I think I see the reasoning... to get me to buy more Moogs. Arrrgh, the wallet doth protest!

Re: M32 envelope design (what where they thinking?)

I guess I was very tired (3am posting) and it came off harsher than i wanted. I do agree to a point, and a brassy sound is not the be all/end all for a synth. It's a choice of the synthesist to make wacky space sounds or to add a musical phrase to a track, the choice is dictated by the music being p...
