Following up on your suggestion, I also see that the MF Drive has boosting capabilities so I'm going to give that a serious look.

I did try going straight in, but was too quiet. I would like to have the guitar be at about the level of the synth, so I can go back and forth without having to adjust the gain on the channel. I don't have any pedals other than a Cry Baby, although I plan on picking up a simple overdrive/fuzz or ...
