Re: New Model D ?

I've owned and restored four model Ds of various vintages and yes, they sound very good, but not outstanding to my ears. The VOS is more advanced and can sound just as good or better (subjectively). There's a huge amount of myth and legacy surrounding the Model D and a lot of it quite unjustified i...

Re: New Model D ?

@Red - well that doesn't look like the Asheville factory to me. I'd love Moog to reintroduce the Model D but I can't see what business sense it makes for them to recreate it accurately. They already had a superior 100% analogue product in the (now discontinued) VOS. Nevertheless, Moog are always fu...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

Can anyone post a weblink to a set of keyboard springs that would give a keyboard feel similar to Voyager? I've had my Sub 37 for several months, and the keyboard simply doesn't do it for me. Esp. the black keys are not comfortable to play. I've sent a couple of emails to Moog Music (asking to buy a...

Re: Final Production of the Voyager Announced

The big question is:
Was the Voyager discontinued to make way for a new flagship model?

Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Weight Consistency

The keys to the left (esp. the bottom octave) have more resistance than the upper keys in my unit. Overall the keys have too much resistance, eps. the black keys. Anyone heard from Moog yet, about the possibility of buying softer keyboard springs from them? The keyboard is the only thing holding bac...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

Sometimes I feel on this forum critics are not allowed... On my SubPhatty the keyboard feels cheap and it is noisy even after a repair it is still noisy. Because of the cheap key's and springs. When Moog is reading these critics they will think twice about some building parts when they make a new s...

Re: Sub 37 Gap in case

I agree with Greg, from what I've heard/read this issue is quite common. Just forget about it, and enjoy your Sub 37.

Re: Voyager RME Discontinued

Why not simply get a Modulus 008? You'll probably get more for you money there, than what Moog could potentially offer for the same price. The Modulus 008 also has a 100% discrete design. I'd much rather have a Voyager II or whatever, taking the improvements from Sub 37, and making a new flagship mo...

Re: Least used feature on the Sub 37?

I can't really see a purpose for the added envelope stages, delay and hold. The alternate glide functions are nice though, exponential is great when using glide without legato enabled. That said, I'll probably never use the arp. and seq. functions. To go off topic, the most missed feature on the Sub...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

I had a dead key upon arrival. I called Andy and he walked me through removing the keybed and fixing it on the spot without voiding the warranty. Works great now! Sounds promising! Can someone recommend a keyboard brand/model, which can be ordered and fitted on the Sub 37 (as close to the Voyager a...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

No offense but isn't it all about technique? I own Nord keyboards, their keybed is to responsive (feels cheap) for me. My korg, Nord, Yamaha synths, Hammond organ and Roland digital piano have all totally different responsiveness and keyboards actions. Try playing authentic hammond organ parts on a...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

The stiffness is especially noticeable with the black keys. Certain licks that should be really easy with some technique (like playing fast triads up and down from the wholetone-scale), are difficult to get completely legato (without triggering the envelope involuntary when using the black keys).

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

I too am disappointed with the keyboard. I ended up getting a Nord Lead A! for my fast and smooth lead playing...that keyboard has a very easy action, and it shows me how much better and more useful the Sub 37 could be. Pressing keys on my Sub 37 takes significantly more pressure (measuring by gent...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

I agree that the key action is on the stiff side but I prefer it that way. I'd much rather play a keyboard that has some feel behind it rather than one of the many out there today where the keys just flap in the breeze. What is your playing style/genre? I see many people buying Moogs for electronic...

Re: Sub 37 - Keyboard quality and playability

Hi, What does Moog uses for that particular Keyboard? Would it be possible to upgrade that part only, using another Fatar or else? Greg Yeah, I would like to know that too. If it's not too expensive, I would definitely consider changing the keyboard. Could Moog add a higher trigger point in the fir...
