Re: Sub 37 vs Model D
I have both, and think they are amazing. The sub is a bit more of a music nerd compared to the model D, but fantastic in its own right. I'd say in terms of tone digging they are equally rewarding, just different. Can't really exactly match tones between them, which is honestly a good thing. Seems to...

Re: Mini Moog Model D and fuses
If by wrong fuses you mean the unit won't turn on because they are blown, you probably have a bigger problem than a blown fuse. The +/- 10 v refers to the respective power supplies the fuses are on. Don't worry too much about that last statement. You use the same type of fuse, 1/4 or 1/2amp slo blow...

Re: Help! The Source is killing me!!!
Yeah, I'm curious as to how this one pans out myself. A friend of mine made a copy of the EPROM code for me when I was at the beginning of fixing my source. So, I can probably hook you up with that, just have to send him an email. I have code 2.0. PM if this would be of service. You would need an EP...

Re: Help! The Source is killing me!!!
Well, from the sounds of it you are more solid than me in terms of electronics knowledge. There is little I can offer you there. I can say that the most simple things are often the cause of big problems, think small in the troubleshooting. Dirty legs of chips, things like that. check the status of U...

Re: Help! The Source is killing me!!!
Hey Man, cool out. You just got a source for 25 bones. That's insane. Of course it isn't going to work right :D I paid way more and mine went absolutely loony immediately after I got it and left positive feedback. No, it wasn't the power supply. Have you cleaned out the connectors where the membrane...

Re: M #1126 Prodigy - All Keys Play the Same Note
+1 on U11, U12. I had this problem with my mini. Your issue is probably with the CV that is being sent on by these chips. The CV is stuck, essentially. Giving the schematic a stare U12 seems more likely than U11 to be the cause of the problem.

Re: New Model D ?
I was in Asheville this week and had to drop by the Moog factory to get some work done to my sub 37. It was really cool, they actually let me install the new board myself, which was awesome. Really nice people in there. Oh, and I found a bug in the sub 37 firmware, so that's kinda neat too. Of cours...

Re: Impact of new model D on pricing of vintage Minimoog D
F Frankly, if the new D sounds anywhere near as good as the original, I'd get the new one. Vintage Model Ds are just hell to maintain. As far as maintaining a D is concerned, after much needed service mine has given me nothing but good times. Also, working on it was an absolute pleasure in compariso...

Re: The Source OSC2 Triangle wave missing
The membranes are much more solid than the internet would have you believe. They do stop working, but that is due to oxidation of the ribbon cables in most cases, I would suspect. That was certainly the case with mine, and I've found threads where the great Kevin Lightner indicated the same. I revit...

Re: Minimoog Model D Osc 3 Control switch defies expectation
Hey Stevie. Yes, I was aware that the osc control switch decouples the keyboard cv from the osc, I just was just surprised by the behavior of this action. Also, as I mentioned before, I misread the portion of the service manual pertaining to the control, so I was expecting it to do something that it...

Re: Minimoog Model D Osc 3 Control switch defies expectation
Hey there, Thanks for the replies! I sorted it out. My problem was twofold Fold the first ) The guy I bought it from said that this was an issue, and I believed him. I am a trusting person by nature. This preconception of malfunction followed me to.... Fold the second) I've never messed around with ...

Minimoog Model D Osc 3 Control switch defies expectations
Hello again friends. I scored a minimoog. I've been looking at these things since the 90's. This is a big deal to me. It was in pieces in a basement. I was buying other things from the owner of said mini, he didn't even really mention the thing. I couldn't stop thinking about the mini, and called th...

Re: My Source is crazy, but in a catatonic sort of way
And it was........................... the RAM. The RAM. It failed. just for fun, I'm going to list the things that have failed on my source in the three months I've had it. processor line reader 10's digit display driver one of the oscillator regulator chips on the synth board--can't remember which ...

Re: My Source is crazy, but in a catatonic sort of way
Man, I'm thankful for any suggestions at all, even if they are for things I've already covered. FWIW, I figure the problem has to be in the RAM area or the MUX/DEMUX circuit. So it's probably just one of those chips. I can't help but wonder what will go wrong next, though. It seems every time I flip...

Re: My Source is crazy, but in a catatonic sort of way
Hey Alain. It is at 3.3v. Sigh...... I'm going to figure this one out, probably replace every chip in there, and never take this thing to a gig again. This realization makes me sad and sort of deflated. I guess the source is a great studio piece, but this one really seemed to enjoy being played live...
