Re: Theremin controls not working

whatsup? still looking for a multimeter, checking voltages or something? or even solved the issue? just joking. the t9 hint might be only one source of malfunction. if you can't read those voltages as mentioned above, it's t9. most probably. at least in my case some loong time ago. a oscilloscope is...

Re: Theremini wirth Garageband

You don't have to be confused, it's obvious in that video, that the notes are triggered by the keyboard and not by the theremini. quote:.."Notes are being triggered with an Korg MicroKEY controller." To keep the gate open you could tape a key down and have both hands free! Or anything that...

Re: Theremini wirth Garageband

hi harry, i abandoned the theremini from my setup, because i tried the same as you and never had success. there is no note on/off function from the theremini, and that's the stupid part of it. the theremini internal setup gives you two midi cc# for the two antennas. one goes for volume and one goes ...

Re: Why does it take some time for the Etherwave to warm up?

as far as i know, all that analog oscillator related stuff needs time to warm up. may it be a synth or theremins. i don't know for sure how much the capacitors are involved, but i'm pretty sure it's because the transistors warm up. the coils and the hf-transformers are temperature sensitive, so they...

Re: Electric shock?

hi kaiweb, what theremin are you modifing? and what are you modifing? i soldered myself some stuff on the etherwave plus, without any problems. like suggested in the hotrod-manual. and adding the espe-module was a no brainer. just unplug the unit and turning it then on should discharge the big capac...

Re: Theremin controls not working

Hi Spectacle, Murphy's Law ? What happened to your instrument? just guesswork, but very possible is a blown out Transistor, T9. (2N3906) If you have a Multimeter, you could check the voltages on the cables going to the front panel. Green wire : Ground Black wire : -11.3V Orange wire: +12V Brown wire...

Re: Calibration issues on Theremini

The theremini picks up all sorts of electronic pollution of the enviroment, afaik because of the weak oscillator inside. :( Mobile-Phones, Neonlights etc. can be a real pain in the back. Setting the response from high to low in the setup-menu, helps a bit, but makes the theremin to slow for proper p...

Re: Theremini - Control volume of main outs from the Vol kno

Hey Valery, that is how it works! :( It's completely nonsense. On a real theremin you control the smoothness or the attack of the volume. ( I don't know the proper Therm but i guess you get the point.) Not so on that theremini. It's just another volume control. Maybe a new instrument could solve thi...

Re: Desktop speaker with Theremin, possible?

Damn Crickets...
Not sure if your speakers are grounded or not. If not, then the theremin does not work properly. :( .
But sending the signal through a (grounded) mixer and then into amp/speaker works fine. Something like the Mackie 402 in the bag helps on any ungrounded situation.

Re: Minitaur keeps detuning

Same happens here sometimes. I use it with DIN midi and I feared i need to calibrate that damn beast, but it was fine the next day. Seems like power off/on helps, sometimes. The osc.calibration can be done by the editor, but that takes it's time to go through. And there are some sysex files fo...

Re: Interesting IOS App for Theremini

cool finding! thanx alot. nice app...i thought midi was dead but with those new devices it's like back alive. i fumbled a lot with the tb mididstuff app as a controller for the theremini's midi-internals. and made some cool pages for it. i like it a lot for the delay part of the theremini. i still w...

If you're using TBMidi-Stuff, nice app btw, there's a working minitaur-panel here: http://www.thiburce.com:8080/TBStuff//f ... b8d3ed391e
The downloadable .tbc file is nearly at the bottom of that page.

Re: Buzz / hum question

Hi restlessboy, Hard to tell, without a sound-example ,-) But there are different noise sources i can think of: One is that low "bup-bup-bup" motorboating-like sound. But that's a normal behavior. I enhanced my circuit-boardard with a additional bass-module. 2oct more and those bups are go...
