Re: I wish that animoog can pass its presets to theremini

Actually, its been quite a long while now since Moog issued a new firmware release. I know they have a long list of Theremini requests. I wonder if a new release is coming soon that will add some features.

Re: Theremini MIDI file

Yes but playing the Theremini with MIDI is another matter. I was talking about playing a MIDI instrument from the Theremini. You can do all kinds of nice things by having a computer send CC controls to the Theremini. I have used it like a synth by placing a stationary object in the pitch field to cr...

Re: Theremin Attack Problem

I haven't experimented to get this kind of sound but perhaps you can try 1. Calibrating so max volume is close to the antenna so you get a quicker ramp to max volume. 2. Adjust delay to make sure you are not using too much for what you want to do 3. Maybe play with the filter using the app to open i...

Re: Theremini MIDI file

Perhaps you have the wrong idea of what the Theremini can do. It's not really a MIDI controller. You can control most of its parameters through MIDI CCs but it does not output Note On/Note Off MIDI so you can't play say the Sonnicouture Ondes Martenot library from it if that is what you are thinking...

Re: New Theremini Editor Available

Gordon,
Thanks. For 9 bucks maybe I'll give it a shot.
Yes, Lemur can do amazing things. I haven't used it that much but I can't wait to hear what you'll cook up with it.

Re: New Theremini Editor Available

Gordon,
Did you try the MIDI note feature? How does it handle portamento if at all? Is it just quantizing to the nearest MIDI note from pitch gated by the volume antenna? Is it useful? If it works OK I guess I'll give it a shot to connect to a sample library and see what it can do.
Thanks
Rich

Re: First track featuring the Theremini.

Nice!!!
How did you set up that Theremini? Pitch correction on I take it (what setting on the dial?).
You make up your own sound with the editor?

Re: Composing with the Theremini

So here is a piece I arranged from an unknown Baroque composer (Johann Georg Thiel). Played the Theremini through an Electro-Harmonix Talking machine (lots of thereminists use this now days) to the orchestral MIDI score (created using the new Spitfire Mural String Ensemble Library, a bit of LA Strin...

Re: Note event handling for theremini?

I hooked up a Behringer foot pedal (FCB 1010) to the iConnect4+ (along with iPad) and use one of the expression pedals for CC7 volume from about 50-127. I find that MIDI controlled volume has a greater range than using the volume antenna alone (at least to my ears). Haven't tried the inversion techn...

Re: Theremini shaking tone

Also in addition to checking grounding, go into Advanced Settings and see what you have the response mode set to assuming you are running the newer firmware. If set to Fast, try Medium. If set to Medium try Slow. See if it gets better. Quality of your power could affect this kind of thing. Also try ...

How to play the Theremini like a Synth through MIDI

Here's an example of how to play the Theremini rather like a synth using MIDI CC102 (transposition). Set a fixed tone on the Theremini with a mic stand or some other object (a steady hand will waver too much). Then in a sequencer create a melody (doesn't matter what the pitches are as pitch will be ...

Re: Note event handling for theremini?

Gordon, Some really interesting things you can do with playing the Theremini from a sequencer. My friend at Moog suggested I try using the transpose control. Although you can't send Note On/Note Off data to the Theremini right now, you can change the transposition in real time. This means you can if...
