Re: Any recommendations for MOOG based albums
Yes, Arp 2600 as well. There’s also a nice mix of drum machine and live percussion to push things along. It also seems to me like some of the sounds could have come from the Arp Pro DGX; there are some that sound a bit like the ones Tony Banks used in various Genesis tunes. The remaster has early mi...

Re: Any recommendations for MOOG based albums
Check out Anthony Phillips album 1984. This all-instrumental album is a great example of what can be done with the Polymoog, which is featured throughout. Anthony was one of the original members of Genesis, and his playing and composition is excellent throughout. It was just remastered a few years a...

Re: Rebuilding a 921 VCO
Nice job! That looks really nice.
The 921 is a great oscillator, one of my favorites.
I always wish I had more than one in my system!

Re: Moog One FEATURE Requests
All I want is proper external midi control. I doubt it will ever happen.... :( I thought that Moog released a huge external Midi control document for the ONE several years ago (probably still available in “downloads” somewhere). IIRC, it allowed for CC assignment/control of most of the front panel ...

Re: Sirin and Minitaur
IIRC, the circuit boards for the Minitar and Sirin are identical. There may be a few component differences, and certainly a different firmware installed to allow calibrating correctly over a wider range. I traced out the oscillator circuit for the Minitaur several years ago, and it is virtually iden...

Re: Share your synthesizer music!
I’ve been using a first year iPad Pro with no problems, and also sometimes use an iPad Air gen 1 with no problems. I’m using a later gen Camera Connector that allows me to power/charge the iPads while using them, which is nice. Haven’t seen any finicky stuff. I think that Auria price is about $50; I...

Re: Share your synthesizer music!
I use Auria on the iPad for recording. 48 tracks, built in EQ and compression per track, automation. You’ll need the Apple Camera Kit to give you an external USB connection for a Midi interface if you want to use an external keyboard or other devices or connect an external audio interface. The Audio...

Re: Share your synthesizer music!
This newest composition was programmed and performed entirely on the Moog ONE, and the journey is illuminated via an incredible 4K custom computer generated video. Headphones are recommended. https://youtu.be/zihkbHnnICU Here's a compact interpretation of the Steve Roach classic Structures from Sile...

Re: The best current synth for sounding like a moog in the 1970s (that isn't a moog)
If you have an iPad, the Moog apps are VERY good, and reasonably inexpensive as well. I’d recommend the Model 15 for its patching flexibility to do Mort Garson types of stuff. If you don’t have an iPad, a used one can be had pretty cheaply, and you can even do multitrack recording both internally, a...

Great list, VCO!
I’d add Kit Watkins in there somewhere.

Re: How to get noise to filter/pitch in the style of P5/10
Let’s say that we’re using LFO 4 in this example as our noise modulation source. Set LFO 4 to S/H, and set the Variation all the way to the right. Now, LFO 4 is no longer an LFO; it is a white noise source. Assign LFO 4 to the filter cutoff, either through the Destination button assignment, or by go...

Re: Moog One FEATURE Requests
Hi Matthias, If you haven’t been diving into the Mod Matrix, you’ve been missing about 95% of the power and creativity that the ONE is capable of. There’s lots of good stuff available from the very knobby front panel, but the matrix is where this machine *really* comes alive. There’s not just one wa...

Re: Moog One FEATURE Requests
Voice panning is one of the destinations available in the modulation matrix, so there are many, many ways to control panning other than just the voice spread control. The spread control isn’t random, by the way. If you play a single voice 16 times, the panning starts at the far ends of the soundstag...

Re: How to get noise to filter/pitch in the style of P5/10
You can do this a number of ways. The Random modulation source is noise, and can be assigned to the Filter destination. You can also use the VARS to filter or mutate this noise as desired. Each of the 4 LFOs can also become a noise source and be used for modulation. Use the Sample and Hold setting, ...
