Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...
We are getting out of sync here eh, and as my post got behind yours I now see you have taken it apart so beyond sending it back to AL. Shouldn't this correct all of the bad key issues? Per Alain's reply, yes, as long as it was re-bushed and the bushing posts were correctly aligned by AL. Download th...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...
Watched the video, sad, sad, sad! I do a lot of MiniMoog's which is my primary focus, and this is about as bad as one is when it comes in; returning it as repaired to a customer like this does nothing for the vintage service industry or VA's reputation. Seems to me that they should either make this ...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...
The rubber mounts that support to key contact board had perished. This is really common and a mini could work in one location but when shipped the mounts fall apart. In this case it looks like someone (maybe the seller or whoever previously sold it to the seller) had seen this and put screws through...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...
The burn marks on the bridges are not an issue in themselves (apart from cosmetics), but show soldering has been done from the actuator side of the assembly. I have seen this where folks have tried to deal with bad contact springs by soldering the lower section of the spring. Fingers crossed that ev...

Re: Just bought a Model D on eBay...
Some concerning things in this thread, and like Tom I think I need to up my rates! The pots are delicate (a material that chips easily was used) so extreme care is needed to ease the metal back off for cleaning. The pots resistance strip was sputtered onto this substrate which is an insulator, and a...

This has 36 keys, no?
Don't recognize it.
Flip it over and post a picture of the underside.

Hi Jay' I just responded to your email. ThisOldSynth is hosted on Yahoo small business, or whatever they call themselves now. Any unavailability is down to them and with the reported access issues I hear about I do not recommend them as a hosting service if anyone is looking for a hosting service. T...

Re: Concertmate MG-1 CV pitch weirdness...
John, That's because these synths scale from the left hand key. The Source starts at C giving 0v CV out. The MG-1 starts at F with CV of 0v giving that note. This leads to a C on the Source playing a note 5 higher on the MG-1, and that is what you are seeing here. You need some sort of converter suc...

Re: Concertmate MG-1 CV pitch weirdness...
The first thing you have to set per the manual is the KEYBOARD CURRENT SOURCE ADJUSTMENT R2051 and R2057 with Glide set to zero. This sets the CV range for the keyboard. The frequency and scale adjustments are then made based on this. If this is not carried out in the correct order then the MG-1 can...

Re: Minimoog keyboard problem
Note that there are 2 contact springs per key, so if you want to replace them all then you would need 2 CAE spring kits. Springs have to be carefully and rapidly soldered as otherwise the solder will wick up the spring and ruin it. The other trick is to set each pair into an actuator evenly and at t...

Re: Model D Pitch wheel mod
Thank you for the referral Alien! I'm not into anything that requires drilling holes in MiniMoogs, and extremely reluctant to do mods in general. I do of course have the Opto-key project, but that goes out of its way to be a plug in replacement and does not require cutting wires and soldering. A spr...
