New Module Photos

I create web pages with photos of the Moog systems and modules that I restore at https://modularsynthesis.com/moog/moog.htm . Other individuals contact me with unique modules they have and if they send me photos I create pages for those as well. I just created pages with some of the unique CEMS modu...

Micromoog switch replacement

I just repaired a Micromoog. The pitch was unstable and there were two issues. The first was the tin-on-tin connectors just didn't have good contact resistance even after cleaning. I pulled all the headers and replaced them with gold. You have to use the same style header as you have to solder both ...

Re: Micromoog repair help

I dont want to just replace every component in the VCO. Is there any component I should be looking at directly? Any help or direction would be sooo much help. Thanks!! I can walk you through some tests. I have the recent posting on the Micromoog photos. From the link there you can get to my home pa...

Micromoog photos

I recently had a Micromoog come into the shop so took an opportunity to take some photos and combine the schematics into a single sheet. Details are on my Micromoog page at http://modularsynthesis.com/moog/micromoog/micromoog.htm . I had quite a bit of trouble with the trigger generator. It kept see...

Re: Help! The Source is killing me!!!

I just finished repairing a Moog Source although the membrane was in good condition. That synth is full of sockets and connectors, all tin. Tin corrodes and it's been nearly 40 years since it was manufactured. The first thing I would do is re-seat every connector and every IC. Some of the connectors...

Re: Moog Source

I just saw this today but yesterday posted my repair of a Source Incremental Controller http://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=26034 . I had to make three modifications to use different sensors. The standard LED current is way too high, the pinout was different, and I had to adjust the p...

Moog Source Incremental Controller

I got a Moog Source in for repair and had to rebuild the Incremental Controller. I could find a few hints on the web but none that were successful. I replaced both sensors and made necessary modifications to get a very nice gray code output and the Incremental Controller works very well. Details of ...

Re: 921 clamping point?

The 921 clamping level is the level to which the oscillators will be clamped on a hard sync via the Clamp Trig input. It is edge triggered with about a 1 mS delay and then the waveform starts from this level. Note all oscillators do not clamp to the same level. I have two scope pictures on my 921 pa...

Re: System 55 Restoration

Dave, Excellent and interesting as always. One question, did you notice if the inductors in the 914 are toroids or spool type? David I didn't look at them that closely. This is the best image I have of the 914 and it is hard to tell but it looks like a toroid to me. http://modularsynthesis.com/imag...

Re: System 55 Restoration

I have just a question for you, if I may. I noticed that the page on the 921B shows a picture of the component side of the 921A where one would expect the component side of the 921B. In the last few months I have managed to reverse engineering the pcb layout of the 921B, using some photos I collect...

System 55 Restoration

I just finished restoring a near-original Moog System 55 for a client and took the opportunity to photo document the system. It is on my Moog System 55 Restoration page http://modularsynthesis.com/moog/system55/moog_system55.htm . I didn't duplicate pages for three of the modules that were the same ...

Re: Large modular restoration with great pictures

When I started on this Moog I needed to figure out which mods were user installed and which were factory installed. I started looking for some photos and found there were really none of the modules themselves and few of the rear of the cabinet. I decided to take this opportunity to take and post pho...
