Re: 901 vs. 921
The magic of the 901 modular VCO set is that the 901Bs share one exponential converter in the 901A. This means that when the 901Bs are set to detune slightly from each other, the RATE of beating (i.e. the offset in Hz) remains constant throughout the range of the keyboard. Technically, each 901B is...

Re: Keith Emerson Tribute at El-Rey in LA
http://www.keyboardmag.com/artists/1236/the-official-keith-emerson-tribute/58774 Anyone know if this was taped by HBO or Showtime or if there will be a DVD/CD available in the future? Was thinking same thing when I saw this. Glad to hear that a DVD release is planned! :D Looking forward to the DVD....

Re: Adjusting slope of a 911EG ?
Yes, I meant to say that it's probably a case of possibly changing the slope from linear to exponential....if it could be done by altering or adding some components ? You could at least experiment with the results by feeding the 911EG to the control input of a 902 VCA set to exponential. Then feed ...

Re: Power-One supply for modular
I did precisely this, but also creating the -10v source required by 901 VCOs. It works perfectly, and I recommend it as an excellent solution. This thread describes it in some detail. There is no issue with grounding - simply tie the two grounds together. I actually did exactly this for two separate...

Re: Please explain the 911a
This is another way to think about it. The way these retro gate or trigger delays (like the Moog) work is the following: they take a GATE as input. The RISING edge of the gate is delayed. The TRAILING edge is unchanged. So, if you try to set the delay to longer than gate "on time", you wil...

Hi Tom,
Glad you were able to make the 910 power supply work for you.
Cheers,
Roger

Re: Modding PowerOne supplies for vintage modular Moog
Hi Peter, In my case, the original supplies were not usable. But further, the performance of a 1960's era power supply, even one with properly functioning components, is simply not going to be comparable to a modern supply like the PowerOne. While I can't say whether the VCOs I have could be made to...

Re: Modding PowerOne supplies for vintage modular Moog
Sorry it wasn't clear. I use BOTH supplies mentioned in the post, in order to generate the three required voltages. One supplies the -6v line, and the other supplies the +12v and the -10v lines. I've used the pair of supplies in a rack system and will be also installing the pair in a separate P cabi...

Modding PowerOne supplies for vintage modular Moog
I'd posted this over at Muff's but thought it could be of interest here as well for folks interested in replacing their old power supplies. As we now all know, early Moog modulars with 901 VCOs used +12v, -6v and -10v supplies. (The later ones with 921 VCOs ditched the -10v line). In any case, off-t...

Re: Anyone know anything recent about Mike Bucki?
FWIW, my Bucki MoogCE 921A also has the toggle switch. OTOH, my Don Martin 902 has a black rocker, like my RA moog 902. The Martin unit pre-dates the Bucki module by a couple of years.
Whatever,

Re: Testing 904a...
Just for the internet archives, the Don Martin era 904a is a clone of the Rev "C" 11/10/70 version, and self-oscillates with abandon.

Re: Poll: What do you use your Moog gear for?
My response is entirely parallel to MC's: I have a serious day job and that's where I earn my income. I've played piano since age 5, etc. and my day job pays for this hobby. The only music related income I make is from a couple of songs authored for the Rock Band video game, and 0.001 cents per stre...

Re: Anyone know anything recent about Mike Bucki?
Yes, back in the day Mike would fabricate Moog modules that were in all respects identical to what came out of the factory. I bought a 921A and four 921Bs from him back around 2000 or so. Even then, it wasn't easy to contact him, and I recall having to leave a number of voice- and e-mails. He eventu...

Re: COMING NAMM 2014
You could of course both (you and Kenneth) be correct, we won't know until we have a demo. I was just saying this because the Sonic Six is labelled this way too, and it's using this switches that you can select to play either 2 notes separately, with OSC 2 in drone mode or at an interval of OSC 1. ...

Re: COMING NAMM 2014
The main thing that indicates that it's duophonic (apart form it now being said loud and clear by Amos), are the words "KB CTRL", "LO" and "HI", they are the real telltale signs IMHO, the KB CTRL switch is likely applicable to the MONO MODE, and would change the note p...
