Sub Phatty with VST now no longer needs DIN and USB on Win?
My Sub Phatty is connected via DIN MIDI, and up until last week the VST editor was set to USB MIDI, due to the Windows issue of not being able to share MIDI ports. However, I noticed last week that my Sub Phatty VST editor was no longer working when set to USB MIDI, so I tried changing it to DIN MID...

Re: Sub Phatty Editor - beta test feeedback
It works on an Audio track too but then I'll need a separate MIDI track for the midi data. If I put it in a MIDI track I'll need a separate track for the audio coming from the Sub Phatty. Or have I misunderstood something? Use a MIDI track with Live's External Instrument plugin so you only need one...

Re: Sub Phatty Editor - beta test feeedback
How do I configure the audio input for the Sub Phatty Editor-VI? I can't get it to work with Ableton Live 9. The other editor type that is put on an audio channel works fine if I set the correct Midi ins and outs in the Prefs of the editor. Sub Phatty Editor-VI is only for Logic users. You should u...

Re: "hardware disconnected" on Ableton live 9 with sub phatt
To get it to work with Live in Windows you need to make sure you have it connected by both USB and DIN MIDI. Set up your Live MIDI preferences with: INPUT "Moog Sub Phatty" OFF INPUT "your MIDI interface" ON OUTPUT "Moog Sub Phatty" ON OUTPUT "your MIDI interface&q...

Re: Problem with SubPhatty 64bit VSTi: hardware disconnected
Well thanks for all this I appreciate it very much. I can't seem to get the macros to map to the knobs though for some reason they just won't take. Make sure you configure the parameters you want to map first. (As per above, i.e click configure, then the parameter on the VST GUI) Then you can set t...

Re: Problem with SubPhatty 64bit VSTi: hardware disconnected
Alright but when I record automation in the arrangment view I only can see the actual automation down below in the clip editor when I go to the envelopes section and even then it doesnt give the option of renaming it, is this the only place I will be able to see the actual automation? MIDI map the ...

Re: Problem with SubPhatty 64bit VSTi: hardware disconnected
Strangly with this config there is not option for subphatty to pick in "midi to" on the external instrument down below? Also if I choose subphatty out in abletons preferences the subphatty word to left goes an orange color unless i also turn sync on as well for subphatty out? Not sure why...

Re: Problem with SubPhatty 64bit VSTi: hardware disconnected
Actually I have it functioning with subphatty clicked off in Lives preferences and have it playing back the midi i recorded but I'm wondering how to get automation to show up in the arrangement view? At this point I can only see the automation I've done in the clip view down below. I'd like to see ...

Re: Problem with SubPhatty 64bit VSTi: hardware disconnected
Well I'm not trying to save presets. I'm trying to get the editor to work properly in Ableton so I can record midi and audio. The standalone Editor wont save midi preferences in the Editor and global settings nor will it in Ableton. The standalone has worked but wont stay consistent. Not sure why i...

I see. I wonder why they don't have an issue but the Sub Phatty does.

Re: Sub phatty editor in Windows standalone &DAW issues
Yeah that's the official answer I was thinking of.
What other synths do you know of which have VST editors and don't have this issue?

Re: Sub phatty editor in Windows standalone &DAW issues
so just to be clear...why do we need both??...because the USB works with the standalone editor and we need to use the Midi DINs in the DAW? or vice versa? You can use either when using the standalone editor but when using a DAW you need both. I can't remember the exact technical reason, but it's du...

Re: Sub phatty editor in Windows standalone &DAW issues
Yeah it's not an issue Moog can fix as it's a Windows issue.
You need to use MIDI DIN and USB if you want to use the editor in a DAW in Windows. It's just the way it is until Windows 9 or whatever.

Re: Unexpected Bonus to Getting SubPhatty
A related unexpected bonus was that the filter knob on the SubP auto-maps to the filter on U-he Diva.
