Re: Isao Tomita Patches?
As far as the whistle goes, there's a YouTube video of him patching/playing When You Wish Upon a Star on a System 55. Looks like he used filter oscillation and maybe a 921 LFO for vibrato. It's a great vid--check it out. I haven't seen this video, but it sounds like he may have used a couple of dif...

Re: VSE Forum down?
I've just had a message from VSE. They suffered massive spam attacks that caused a temporary shutdown of some IP addresses. Mine's working now, so things look ok.

Re: VSE Forum down?
Yes, the same thing's happened to me, and like you I haven't posted there for ages. They're supposed to be looking into it, but now I know it's a general problem I'm less concerned. I've noticed they've had a lot of multiple spam postings on a few recent occasions, so maybe it's something to do with...

Re: Voyager Oscilator Chord Tuning Questions
I'd strongly advise using a tuner. Oscillators can drift (and my Voyager ones have). I always keep a tuner by my synths.

Re: Voyager Old School or ARP Odyssey mk2?
To me it's all about feel and tone - does an instrument inspire you, and does it sound good? So I'd agree with what's been said about trying both synths and seeing what happens. My experience covers both the Voyager and the ARP Axxe (though not the Odyssey - yet, anyway). I found the more limited Ax...

Re: What's with the sticker thing?
I don't think anyone's getting this at all. My point is that there's a whole series of Moog products in Britain that are basically unbadged because Moog didn't have the rights to the Moog name for trading purposes at the time. You'd expect Moog to have been keen to put their logo on those instrument...

Re: What's with the sticker thing?
Why? Sorry - I thought it was clear what I meant: Moog seem totally uninterested in badging the instruments that were sold in Britain when the Moog logo couldn't legally be used. Now it can be used, you'd expect them to want their instruments to be identifiable on stage, but they don't seem interest...

Re: What's with the sticker thing?
Early Voyagers in Britain didn't have the Moog name apart from a small panel saying "Voyager by Bob Moog" because of the loss of the Moog company name here. I'm not sure if the sticker thing dates from that or not, but for those of us in Britain who didn't have a Moog logo on our Moog synt...

Re: Bob Moog's Archives moving to Cornell University
Erik, don't worry as far as I'm concerned. If Doty comes in here shouting and screaming like he has done before, I intend to ignore him. I'm inclined to think ignoring him is the best thing that can be done unless he gets really misleading or offensive. He obviously wants attention - that was appare...

You can bet Doty will use the Sonic Talk thing to boost his sense of self-importance. There's no need to encourage him.

Re: The Manfred Mann Minimoog/Oberheim SEM combo
Although I can't help with the main topic here, I can add a small snippet to the question of three oscillators possibly not being enough: Manfred Mann had a modified MiniMoog with four oscillators at one point. It also had a small ribbon controller instead of either the pitchbend or the modwheel (I'...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?
Tim, do you have any recordings made with the Welsh Mini?
Also, a YouTube demo or something of the sort would be of great interest.
And, of course, welcome to the forum.

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?
Just a couple of minor snippets which may or may not be of interest. One of the Welsh Minis turned up at Hammond Hire in Coventry, England, a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if it was being sold or just in for repair. Someone - not Hammond Hire - told me Bob Moog was impressed with the sound and f...

Re: The New Emerson Moog Modular System Is Real
Thanks for that, Tom. I thought your contribution would be instructive, and it is. Your last point certainly is. It might be interesting to know, one day, how many of these got built and what happened to them. That quick tuning adjustment certainly sounds interesting - and a very useful thing to hav...
