Re: The new driver/firmware

I get a 'usb device not recognized' message, [...] I was unable to erase and load in new firmware This is your problem -- the driver doesn't work until/unless you update the firmware. Driver doesn't work with old firmware. Simply uninstall the driver, then try updating the firmware (if you want to ...

Re: Trouble with minitaur and Logic Pro X (10.2.4)

I've looked at the output of MIDI Monitor ("spy on output to destinations"), and Logic appears to be emitting a spray of wrong/random notes, when this happens... that's what's causing a stuck note on the Minitaur. There is a non-drastic solution, which is to hold the Minitaur GLIDE button ...

Re: Taurus 3 firmware update - v2.0.3

Hi Amos, No update on this? Could we consider that the last Taurus 3 Firmware? I wouldn't say it's the last-ever Taurus 3 Firmware. There's a Taurus 3 under my desk right now, just waiting for a chance for further update work... however, it's been waiting there a year or more as my time is in such ...

Re: Sub 37 mystery patch behaviour (bug?)

Hi guys, thanks for the excellent forensic work so far... this is all very helpful towards a possible fix. Clearly there is some bad data in the preset, and the Sub 37 is behaving oddly when trying to act on this data... how the preset got into this state is an interesting mystery in itself. I have ...

Re: Sub 37 Envelopes not consistent

All of these things are related to subtle phase differences between oscillators, which have the most effect on the sound during the transitory instant of the note's attack. The reason you always get a consistent sound with just osc1 or just osc2 is that the phase of the oscillator is constant relati...

Re: Sub 37 Envelopes not consistent

And after all that it turns out to be another classic case of user error!!! So, I somehow missed the large button called "KBD RESET" found in the OSC section...I had tried all the other KBD RESET buttons in the MOD sources and the KBD TRACK controls and the RESET buttons in the ENV...

Re: Sub 37 Editor - Multiple Instances?

We have done some work on this (allowing multiple instances which work one-at-a-time) but it was sufficiently complex to implement and test this feature that we were concerned it would further delay the 1.0 editor release. We will continue to work on it and will probably roll out this feature in a f...

Re: Has Sub Phatty been abandoned by Moog

Hi all, I think I've mentioned on some other threads that we are working on firmware and editor updates for Minitaur and Sub Phatty, to begin immediately after the Sub 37 Editor was released. I'm happy to report that this is happening now. We are preparing to start a beta test for new Sub Phatty fir...

Re: Sub 37 Editor v1.0.0 & Firmware v1.2.0 is now available

The new USB driver doesn't work with the previous Sub 37 firmware (v1.1 or earlier). The only thing the USB driver gets you is multi-client USB MIDI, which you need in order to use the editor plug-in within your DAW on Windows. So my recommendation is to do the firmware update before installing the ...

Re: 1.2.0 firmware update buggy sub 37

very unlikely there's anything physically wrong with the synth. You should probably try a "pot calibration". Here are the sysex files you'll need: http://www.moogconnect.net/downloads/sub37/Sub_37_Pot_Calibration.zip (you will also need software to send sysex to your Sub 37; like Bome's Se...

Re: Will there ever be a Sub Phatty update?

Sub Phatty and Minitaur are both on deck for firmware / editor updates. Same crew who has been busy until this week with Sub 37 updates... can now give some love to these other instruments. I know this has strained the patience of many folks.... but it will all come to pass. :)

Re: Has Sub Phatty been abandoned by Moog

Yes it's totally possible to de-stabilize the Sub Phatty oscillator tuning. I reckon it would be that way already, except the chorus of voices asking for that feature hadn't reached a crescendo yet when the Sub Phatty was first in development. It's actually fairly simple to add, now. :)

Re: Sub 37 mod wheel / aftertouch question

I'd rather love to be able to use MOD Wheel and Aftertouch for the same MOD bus, by adding the two controller values, not multiplying them. I completely agree! In fact this is planned for the future of the Sub 37, but it requires some very low-level changes to the sound engine. Some of the necessar...

Re: Sub37 - Have you had this much trouble with other synths

It sounds like your unit needs some work (I'd suggest having the pitch wheel replaced as well as your description indicates it has a legit problem as well) and I suspect that if this is done, your satisfaction level will be much closer to 100%. I'd recommend to go ahead and have it looked at under w...
