Re: Delay Unit Recommendations

I highly recommend the ADA S1000 delay. It is a late 80s digital delay that has a lovely overdrive well before you clip the digital stages. I'm sure it's something like 12-bit 32kHz, but it doesn't sound grungy unless you A: overdrive it on purpose or B: run the input very low with the output hot so...

Re: Ever Sample Your Phatty?

Yes, in fact I made two Kontakt instruments created from my Slim...PWM88 and OctaveSaws88... They both sound just like my Moog, but I cheated by using Sample Robot for 3-layer, 88 key patches! I took 10 sec samples , but ended up looping them all by hand(eye & ear, really) for those times when y...

Re: harmonizer? (eventide pitchfactor)

is the short delay when harmonizing new notes unavoidable? I have the H9, but I'm running the same algorithms.... Even when set to "No Dly" I have 10-15 ms of delay from when my Moog dry sound hits and when the harmony voices hit.... Do the new rack processors do this as well(I know the H3...

I wouldn't mind a slim phatty tribute at all.... It then becomes the "master" in my polyslim rig!

Re: New Little Phatty / Slim Phatty firmware to test

Amos,

Thanks for your hard work on updating the SP/LP firmware!!! I love the continuing support that Moog offers, and I would love the opportunity to test this out... PM is fine, or posted here if that's what you want to do.

Thanks again,
Jim (I need the PC version please)

Slim Phatty Mods?

Has anybody here opened up their Slim Phatty and found Gate/CV points where we could get them out of the synth? I do not have schematics, but I am strongly considering this, as I've got a Sub Phatty as well as an MS20 on it's way to me, and I'd like to be able to give up the Slim for LFO/FM duties. ...

Re: Over Load Buzz.

sounds to me like you may be amplifying a ground loop. does it happen ONLY when you track MIDI in? MIDI from USB or DIN MIDI? DIN MIDI should have an optoisolator on any output, so ground loops aren't SUPPOSED to be possible...USB has no such protection unless you're using either a galvanic isolator...

Re: calibration woes

Well..... I've created a workaround..... I NEVER turn the slim phatty off. Since I wrote that post it's stayed on at all times, and stays tuned perfectly at -85 fine tune.... The ONLY issue I have now is that C#0 wobbles bad whilst every other key is the normal slight phasing (one beat cycle every 2...

Re: The Phatties: A technique to add modulation “busses”

Set, thanks for that link! Although it doesn't tell me about the continuous cv and only the triggered cv (pitch/filter VS Gate) what I'm getting out of where you sent me is that the CV inputs can theoretically take a blue-moon hit up to the supply rails (or the specs of the clamp they have installed...

Re: Slim phatty pitchbend

An idea... not sure if it will work or not, and it means you need to have other gear to support it. I own a Roland Alpha Juno, and I've noticed this very same pitchbend issue. MIDI to the AJ is course and sounds awful, but using the AJ's own bender is silky smooth, despite the fact that most of the ...

Re: The Phatties: A technique to add modulation “busses”

First Post for a first time Moog owner ... Slim Phatty exceeding all of my hopes, as the direct comparison to Arturia/GForce minimoog vst (with 3rd osc as LFO) shows the real quality of this superb instrument! Here's my question: in an audio amplifier, even gross overload is often current limited b...
