Re: New reissue Model D Faulty?

Waza: Wee sisters over in Blackhall, great night out in Edinburgh (Rose street?!) Not tied down to any particular style, doing more folky electropop just now (with lyrics Aarrggghh!) musics fine-just the words?! Now back to the Mini, the old D' uses the Read Pratt system keyboard assembly, very robus...

Re: New reissue Model D Faulty?

Wazza: Just checked my old '77 mini, does the same mate! The mini essentially runs the circuits to a very high headroom, really heavy phasing as the tuning cycles tear at each other,i've 2 Voyagers, which run at a lower headroom, due to the newer tolerances in the components which means even at full o...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?

Seemingly the Moog patent had lapsed in the UK. not sure how they successfully revived it?! Surely the American owner of the name would have placed an injunction on the process? But it is fascinating to think of such a revival of an iconic synthesiser so far from its birthplace. Financial grants wer...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?

Think I enquired on buying one around 1998?! Only problem was - they wanted the money up front, (1499.00) Sterling - then they would build the Mini? Totally at odds with their boast of shipping a batch for international buyers, as well as fulfilling UK buyers, seems 7 were made, there was a small adve...

Thanks for the kind offer, but I'm into the opus "long haul" probably leave it in my will! have all the relevant documentation needed for its/my lifetime! its a great synth-way better than any counterpart (korg delta/omni) which i owned previously.not great monetary value-but a very useful ...

Re: OPUS 3 purchased new in 1981. Now selling, but ISSUES

Highlt unlikely its the sliders! you mentioned that there is a fixed cyclical pattern sounding when the MOD is supposed to be working-i'd say its still component failure, worst thing to do with synths is not using them for long periods. Just turning them on after a long time down can cause breakdown ...

Re: OPUS 3 purchased new in 1981. Now selling, but ISSUES

check U8 (3080) controls MOD rate on top slider board, also U7B Lm358 which is a dual function chip which also controls mod capabilities and last transistor Q1. These are all soldered in place,so put in a socket (for the IC's and solder in a 2N3904 for Q1. Unfortunately you'll need a signal tracer to...

Actually I had a CDX organ/synth for restoration maybe 7 years ago,the Satellite was pretty weedy (12db filter?)-however using the coupling function, the moog was layered onto the organ, pretty damn good "dual VCOish"effect! Quite etheral in fact, now wheres my altar boy outfit?!

Re: museum of synthesizer tehnology

Another problem Martin faced was instrument failures, which were quite common, repair costs/transportation/insurance just whittled away at his profits, but he sold off some great memorabilia (stickers, manuals, schematics,) I bought the video,2 museum catalogues and a cool Moog brass belt badge! but loc...

Re: Voyager keyboard - how good is it?

The 2 Voyager select series I own both have the Italian Fatar keyboard fitted, great response, pressure works neat, velocity does what it does. Dont rely too much on the presets -90% are crap, dive in and program the thing-very rewarding, I've programmed in a whole sound set, it does sing - only grip...

Re: Moms yard sale Moog Source find and mystery mod....

Check +15V trim R14, -15V at R4, Check Q1 at emitter, set for 10V, loosen the keyboard from the frame and check the 6012 DAC probe on pin 1,if needed set R60 for 0V and R62 for 10V V. generally on the front the LFO LED should be flashing-if not and its lit solid, generally means a DAC/digital board f...
