Re: Voyager filter problem - self oscillation

Carlos, I got your email but if you have exactly the symptoms shown in the video, I would contact levib who started the thread to see if there is a solution to his problem? The info I have is that U7 and U29 relate to the ADSR phases of the envelope and in my case the control lines worked but the sw...

Re: Is my VPE cursed?

I am getting closer, I managed to get a couple of hours yesterday to take another look at this. I am suspecting something in the glide circuit is not right, I have not yet identified enough of the control signal points to decide what is going on in there yet. But there is good linear tracking going ...

Re: Is my VPE cursed?

Strapped to ground and worked on an antistatic surface. :(

I may have another look later today, but we have the British Grand Prix and Murry in the Wimbeldon Finals today, so it's a beer packed day here :)

Is my VPE cursed?

Having had a perfectly functioning synth for just a few days it's now sick again. On Friday I went into the music room and turned kit on, I usually leave it for 15-20 minutes before playing. I went downstairs and made a quick lunch, but then the hospital called, my wife was out of her small op and I...

Re: Voyager filter problem - self oscillation

Levib If it is just the Volume envelope causing you problems then get your guy to check the operation of U7. If it is the Filter envelope check the operation of U29. One word of warning when getting devices off this board is that it is multilayered so be very careful not to damage the plating in the...

Re: Noob with no issues and a damn big smile

Once I get over the initial enthusiastic knob twiddling phase I will have a look into the power sequencing. If it is the case as there are many Voyagers that just continue to work, it may just be a marginal thing on my unit. But right at this point, I am just really happy with my bargin Voyager. Fro...

Re: Noob with no issues and a damn big smile

All faults now found and fixed, SN.2930 is fully opperational. I did make a call to Moog music today. What a change, normally talking to company about faulty gear is a pain, not Moog, Perry was very very helpful and gave me a couple of pointers to help me on my way. So I got in from work flashed up ...

Re: Voyager filter problem - self oscillation

I don't think it is self oscillation, I think the rate is the attack time + the decay time.

If you leave the attack and decay at a setting where it is oscillating and does the sustain level affect the sound?
Also try reducing the envelope depth to zero and does the effect go away?

Re: Voyager BNC Lamp

Even easier............ Found a TNC to BNC adapter floating around in the lab works a treat. Now the BNC LED lamp from the mixing desk fits :D http://www.maplin.co.uk/tnc-plug-tobnc-socket-adaptor-1587?c=maplin&utm_source=gcs&utm_medium=gcs_search&utm_campaign=FE83E&utm_content=BNC+A...

Re: Noob with issues

Next fault found the Filter Envelope has a problem the analogue switch on the envelope rate selection has failed, so the rate is constant on all phases only the sustain level varies how the filter sounds. The first fault was masking this one, so another 4052 change tonight and I should then have a w...

Re: Noob with issues

New CD4052B fitted and we now have a working ish Voyager. The next problem the HP/LP filter switch not doing it's thing. I am going to stick my neck out and guess another analogue switch has gone west!!! So more happy hunting shouldn't take too long to find as I am started to know my way arond this ...
