finally got it to work. user error I needed to save a sample before I could play it. I made the faulty assumption that I would hear the sample without having to save it. Also make sure volume for input is up and wearing headphones is a good idea to keep from getting feedback...

oops, its does work. you can't hear it til you save it. remember to turn up the input volume and wear headphones too

how do you record the mic. Mine doesn't work at all...

I've looked for hours now and I can't figure it out either. I saw a guitar demo but couldn't see what he was doing to actually record. Not sure why this is so confusing.

Is there a less expensive alternative? I assume audio out through the headphone jack is not the best option. What about the Apple iPad dock? or iRig? I need to find out if both versions have identical midi implementation. Do anyone know if there a comparison chart anywhere?

I was totally happy with the iPhone version til I had a problem with an iPad keyboard controller (Slide Control) being able to send midi to it.
