Re: The illusive µ726C transistor array

My synth tech has some, how many do you need ? The original moog parts has FUA 726HC 7822 printed on them. I'd like to have a couple of known good new parts in stock for future use, and I may need one for the project on the bench right now. I haven't needed one of these for years, so it's not like ...

Re: The illusive µ726C transistor array

I just discovered that most of my problem locating info was that I was using the correct(?) character Greek letter mu (µ) instead of u in the search string. Still - seems like a search for 726C without any prefix would have resulted in a clue, but apparently did not. The only place I see these for s...

The illusive µ726C transistor array

Moog Sonic 6 uses a µ726C transistor array in the exponential converter circuit. Also used in the redesigned Mini VCO circuit. I have one used one in my parts drawer so I know they used to be available from somewhere. Senso does not list it @ Vintage Planet, and no search string of any sort turned u...

Re: Rogue and MG-1 end panel replacements

Responding to requests for Black Walnut heartwood / sapwood mix end panels I have selected some stock specifically for this application. My favorite is pictured below. I left a bit of the band saw teeth marks along the bottom edge to add to the character and drastic color variations intrigue me. htt...

Re: Concertmate MG-1 won't power up

Drastic noise as you described could have been an op amp that then gave up and shorted out. I've seen them get hot enough internally when this happens to blow out a piece of the DIP case and emit a puff of smoke. Tek Tip: The smell is distinctive and with practice you can smell the difference betwee...

More Black Walnut came out of the drying room on Saturday. I made more Rogue / MG-1 end panels. Here is one example. Image

Re: ARP Quadra service notes

Wow - thanks guys. I did not even look outside my own files for a service manual as I knew I should have one if they published it. Perhaps I should look further in my archives. I stopped looking when I came to my file folder from ARP school with the schematics. Those schematics were all I ever neede...

ARP Quadra service notes

In 1978 I attended factory training for ARP instruments. Back in those days ARP, SCI and Moog invested in training service technicians. In this case it was an all expenses paid trip to Denver for a week of classroom sessions. The Quadra was introduced that year and we were issued a preliminary set o...

Re: Repairing my Polymoog

I got some Polycom chips from Don Besecker, thanks. Still haven't figured out what happened to my Direct signal... Sounds like you are a pretty serious about getting your head under the hood of this box. So do you have a scope? If this was on my bench for a reported problem of no direct output, the...

Re: Modular 4 voice Oberheim massive repairs

Wow - I started this topic back when and have not been back here to look for quite some time. Lots of views and comments. The keyboard module boards on the unit in my shop had all the numbers sanded off the chips. I did not have much trouble though as the IC designation #s correspond with the docs. ...

Re: Problems with minimoog mod wheel

Also, taking out the mod section is easy, but putting it back in can sometimes be tricky. The rear of the mod section has a small section of aluminum that must fit into a groove in the wood case towards the rear. Miss the groove and the mod section won't lay flat and sometimes won't even push in fa...

Re: oscilloscope XY

TEK 475 is a great scope, or it was back in the 70s. You can look at that balanced wave a couple of ways, but XY mode is used more to compare two independent signals. For example, you can tune a VCO to a reference oscillator by probing each signal with the two channels in XY mode. For a close look a...
