Re: Weird knob behaviour while using USB
this actually sounds like the ground issue that many (including myself) have encountered. are you using a laptop? if so, try running it off the battery without the power supply. the problem with the fatty is the electronics/audio ground is isolated from the earth. not an issue if all the gear you ha...

Re: SP tuning issues
Earlier i was writing in response to Voltor07 comment saying "not true" but i stopped myself as i knew I wasn't 100% correct either. i had to think about it. I'll start with a response to the first post, Dave Smith uses DCOs, not VCOs so they inherently have better tuning stability. now th...

Re: New Firmware v3.1 for Slim Phatty, LP Stage and Tribute
I'm not sure where to raise this, so i'll post it here. i think i've found a bug, only slight, but it is strange behaviour. LP SII, i selected preset 52, set the appeg to latch. as i turned the modulation knob to change the speed of the clock, the LED dial about the EG knob began to flicker between ...

Re: slim phatty out of control
i initially found if i disconnected the power supply from my laptop, the problem stopped. the switching noise from the PS was bleeding through the audio card and USB (ground) to the LP. not a good solution really, so i made a cable with a 3 pin plug with just a ground wire, connected on end to the s...

Re: Why have I never seen an Australian Redback Edition anyw
I think the ARE had a flashing mod wheel too.
When i purchased my LP, i wanted an ARE but could not justify the cost. I'm pretty sure they sound the same. the standard LP sII i purchased cost me AUD$1200, the list price of the ARE was $2099

get a new sticker made up in glow-in-the dark material and use a black light/UV LEDs to illuminate it.

Re: Slim White Noise
noise in the phatty internally is only available as a modulation source, not as a raw waveform.
the only way to patch a white noise as a raw waveform is from an external source.

Re: CV output controlling modular equipment
from what i could see from pictures of the install, the PCB they install is a buffer between the actual CV generated by the LP and the CV out plugs. (not my picture) http://www.moogmusic.com/forum/download/file.php?id=72&mode=view to confirm this, when you load up the CV out, does the pitch of t...

Re: Phatty with own will
mine did this. initially, the only way i could fix it was to disconnect the laptop power supply, or disconnect the USB MIDI (standard MIDI worked ok) and the Audio out. basically isolate it from the laptop ground, as this was the source of the problem. the solution that worked for me was to earth th...

but that only makes noise available as modulation source, not a sound source.Lars wrote:There actually is an option to enable noise directly from the Phatty. P. 37 in the manual. "Enable Master button, go into advanced preset, mod src 6: OSC2. Move the cursor to set OSC2 to NOISE.

Re: Costs of factory upgrades... that aren't done at the fac
I think they didn't want to do it, and were thus pricing themselves out of having to do it. leaves me with 3 options: 1. pay for the upgrades - not worth the cost. 2. sell it and buy one with the CV out mod (and other upgrades) installed - not worth cost. 3. send it out of the country (or back to th...
