I find it odd that there has been no official reply to this question but.....
My new theory is that the battery is there for when (or if you ever do) run the guitar as a straight guitar, just plugging in a 1/4" jack and not hooking up the pedal. But its only a theory until we hear some ...

Battery life
I couldn't find this in the manual, but do you need to leave the guitar unplugged to maintain battery for the piezo pickup?
Should the pedal be left unplugged? I'm assuming yes, since the guitar gets a bit warm after going for a bit.
Also, I sometimes hear a bit of what sounds like dither or static ...

I get it a bit too.
Sounds more like electronic interference being picked up by the pickups with a bit of hiss thrown in.
Just on the magnetic pickups.
