Re: What is your favorite Minimoog softsynth?

To me the whole thing with the Minimoog is the physical connection with the instrument. If I hadn't it I would probably go for one of Behringer's Model D clones that are not very much more expensive than a premium plugin. Soft synths are great in other ways to use synthesizers and there are many com...

Re: 2015 voyager vs Minimoog 2022

They both would sound and play great. Either one would be sonically sensational. I know they can sound different and do sound different. I guess I would go with the voyager since it has presets and all the modulation capabilities and the dual stereo low high pass filter. I’ve played a model D when ...

Re: Torn: Original Vs Re-Issue Model D?

In general I think it’s more common with the classic Model D among collectors and the Re-issue Model D among musicians that require reliable tools. And of course some are, as I am, musicians and collectors. If it’s for owning the history of an icon I would go for the classic Model D. If it’s for the...

Re: Voyager LCD just broke! :'-(

Sorry to hear the accident with your Voyager. When my Voyager was new I tripped on a cord before a concert connected to my laptop that fell over it. Some minor scratches, normally not much to feel bad about but when it was brand new not that exciting. Today I can’t tell where those scratches were. T...

Re: model D, oscillators 1 & 2 "LO" setting...uses?

Actually never thought of it before. Was playing around with it: Different waveforms gives different pulses. Together with filter, noise etc some interesting pulsating sounds such heart beats (realistic with the resonance controlling the opening/closing). With the mod wheel an unhealthy heart beat c...

Re: Alternative editor/librarian?

I have no good vibes from Soundtower from the past due to non existing costumer support. It felt like they were only interested of my credit card, not of me as costumer - wasted money. You can use free sysex programs such SysEx Liberian, make your own folders and organize your sounds there. To use s...

Re: Making more "unclean" sounds in the direction of ARP and MS20 with the Voyager XL

No, it was a local Swedish artist during the time recording studios still were populated by men in white coats. Even if I’m not into jazz I can’t deny the greatness of Herbie and Joe Zawinul as synth performers. To derail this thread completely: Speak of white coats, that is something I can envision...

Re: Making more "unclean" sounds in the direction of ARP and MS20 with the Voyager XL

As far I'm aware of the additional mod features XLs has is a built in VX-351, CP-251, a ribbon control and a larger keyboard. All that can be added to a standard Voyager but is of course very nice to have in one unit. And it looks gorgeous. I have made sounds on my (non XL) Voyager that is very clos...

Re: Minimoog Model D IOS app

I have mixed feelings about the Minimoog Model D app and Moog’s other apps. I’m happy everybody have virtual access to these classic instruments, including myself. At the other hand I have question marks in the context of the legacy of Moog that is an important part of Moog Music today. The interfac...

Re: minimoog pitch wheel. I know, not again..

Slightly off topic, but I hate to start a new thread for this since it's regarding the pitch wheel. Can anyone tell me what the approximate range of pitch bend is on their reissue? Mine is somewhere between 9-10 semitones bending up and between 7-8 semitones bending down . . . not exactly ideal in ...

Re: minimoog pitch wheel. I know, not again..

The pitch wheel was stiff when I bought my Model D ReIssue. I play the Model D frequently and my play technique involve much use of the wheels. I found out its not that stiff any longer, about similar to my former Model D original. When I asked Moog about the wacky zero position of the pitch wheel t...

Re: Minimoog Model D - Which Model/Year is the best?

The Model D was made in 3 revisions of the circuit boards (and some smaller amount of pre revisions before that): - Rev 1. A bit tuning problems. The first couple thousen serial numbers (not sure exactly) - Rev 2. The most common revision. I think the Model D reissue is made from this. If I was abou...

I hesitate to write here since CAPTHA was implemented. I’m fully aware of some kind of protection from spamming is necessary. Other members I have my greatest respect for have made my opinion of that question to a thread of jokes. I have humor, no problems, but still asking for constrictive solution...
