Re: Amazing Products, Amazing Marketing - Not So Good Forum

Yes - the forum used to be more active with several experienced techs active some time back. I believe some of the reasons have to do with the huge increase of information available on the web and that some of these techs are getting older and even passing.

Re: Any Other Source Lovers?

I was lucky enough to finally locate and purchase a Source at a great price about a year ago. Since that time I have come to fully enjoy its rich warm sound, 4 stage envelopes, quality weighted control wheel and light even keyboard action. Its simply amazing!

Re: Moog Taurus question...

If you get the Model D reissue you may also wish to get a vintage Yamaha e1010 analog BBD delay like Geddy Lee originally used or at least a new analog (ex Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail) or digital equivalent. I get amazing results using both an e1010 and Vapor Trail on my 1973 Minimoog!

Re: Moog Source patches

Hi - Welcome to the Moog forums! The best way to get the patches you need most is to learn how to program them yourself. The Source is a rather simple instrument to program - which is rather surprising considering how rich and powerful it can sound in comparison to most other mono synths. Most peopl...

Ah - this is an easy one for me since I have one. The Moog synth in question is definitely The Moog Source.

Re: Recording Moogs

Welcome to the forum Jessica. My approach to recording either of my Moogs is to use the signal chain that will deliver the sound I need at the moment. If I need a cleaner, subtle, or tight sound I may record my Moog direct. If I need a fatter, richer sound, or some distortion, I'll patch my Moog thr...

1973 Minimoog Envelope Issue

It doesn't seem to be a good week for my Moogs. First, my Source develops an issue and now my Minimoog! My Minimoog's ADS envelope appears to have a problem shutting up - apparently the amp envelope release doesn't appear to attenuate the oscillators as it should. Are there any simple fixes for this...

Moog Source Help!

Hi friends and synth experts! After purchasing my Moog Source 6 months ago I recently started having an overheating problem. The Source membrane panel stops working after the synth warms up after a couple of minutes and reverts to the #1 patch which remains playable. I read about the "Crazy Sou...

Re: Allen Strange - Electronic Music Systems

I have several amazing books on analog synthesis - many of which are listed in this excellent collection of useful reference material: http://www.matrixsynth.com/2006/12/synth-books.html My favorite and the one I learned the most from is the very last in this list called The Secret Guide to Synthesi...

Re: The Source noise source

Sinewave1kHz welcome to the forum! I have recently added an early version Moog The Source to my studio and it exhibits exactly the same cyclic "rhythm" in its noise source - which is most noticeable in the lower noise frequencies. My 1973 Minimoog and the new Minimoog reissues in contrast ...

Re: Bass overload in my band

Most (although not all) audio engineers will agree that the bass is the hardest part of a mix to get right for several reasons - including these: 1) Its subject to the greatest variability on the large variety of playback gear a track will be played on. 2) It is often best reproduced in the middle o...

Re: New Model D ?

Judging by the 3 Minimoog Model Ds that I've had over the years (1973, 1975, 1978) many if not most Minimoogs only needed tuning once for a session, if they are allowed to fully warm up first, and if the room temperature is reasonable without variation. The early R. A. Moog Minimoogs (as lovely as t...

Re: Moog Prodigy - upper register keys no response, any help

Hi SpaceRockInSpace - we need more information to help you. Are you able to play the Prodigy and provide more details? Information including whether this occurs in both oscillators, whether any other functions are not working, if it has CV connections (factory or not), as well as the approximate ser...

Re: Minimoog possible bleed?

Hi Steve, welcome to this amazing forum on all that is Moog! Simply put three obvious things could have changed between when you first checked out the Minimoog and after you took it home: 1 - An electrical connection could have shaken loose inside it on its journey home (like part of the wiring harn...

Re: Will new Model D parts be available to vintage Mini owne

That was the 1st thing I thought of when I heard the Model D was being re-introduced because of the difficulty I had tracking down one waveform rotary switch for my 1973 Minimoog. Then next I wondered why the new Minimoog didn't have sync nor LFO driven PWM as provided by some professionally done mo...
