OK, thanks to Rosser at tech support I finally solved the problem. Updating from 2.10 to 2.20 requires the phatty to be booted in "hidden mode". I guess nobody knew this...?

Did you solve this problem? I am stuck in the exact same situation. And the manual doesnt show a FW Update menu section.
