Re: Korg SQ-1 a sa memory for MoogerFoogers and other analogue effects

Hi everyone, I actually used something like this years ago in live performance- a (primitive) Technosaurus Cyclodon sequencer (16 steps, just one cv and gate) to provide a single cv to go to an MF cv in (eg cutoff freq or resonance on MF101). It works, as one would expect. I don't own the Korg seque...

Re: Female audio adapters for Moogerfoogers

HI Mortadela, technical point to be aware of: on the MFs, most (if not all) of the cv inputs are TRS sockets, with +5V on the ring, to power an expression pedal etc. According to the documentation, it's safe to short this out using a TS plug (current-limited circuits), but with some of the MFs this ...

Re: Liberation into FreqBox

Hi Aaron,

assuming that the Liberation and FreqBox are working ok, I would have expected some combination of cables as discussed, including (perhaps) TRS crossover, to have worked. So it really is sounding like a problem in one of the 2 instruments. Sorry I can‘t be more helpful...

Good luck!

Re: Liberation into FreqBox

Hi Aaron, just another quick thought: In making the crossover cable, it might be best to leave the ring unconnected at the FreqBox end, to prevent +5V going somewhere it shouldn't. It really shouldn't be a problem; I assume that the various circuits are buffered/protected, but you never know... On t...

Re: Liberation into FreqBox

Hi Tokenwelshman, a bit difficult to get clear info from the diagram. But reading it one way, it _could_ mean that the Liberation pitch cv out is on the ring of a TRS socket. So it might be worth trying to make a cable: T - R R- T S - S ie a crossover cable between ring and tip, and seeing if that h...

Re: Liberation into FreqBox

Hi tokenwelshman, sorry about the delayed reply, I was travelling (actually had a small amount of work in these troubled times!). Caveat: I've never physically seen a Liberation, only photos, so I don't know exactly what it's outputs/connections etc are. I assume, though, that it has a 1/4" (6....

Re: Liberation into FreqBox

Hi Tokenwelshman, it sounds like the freq cv input of the FreqBox could be faulty. Check this by removing all connections to the FreqBox and connecting its Osc. output (not main out) to a mixer etc. Set it so that you can hear something from the FreqBox's internal VCO. Check that moving the FreqBox'...

Re: Theremin etherwave

Hi Psyordie, if you have an EW Plus, it has cv outputs. With a suitable cv->MIDI converter, this _might_ work. But you would need to check it, as the conversion process can be touchy and the results sometimes unreliable, depending on the combination of devices (theremin, converter, synthesizer etc)....

Re: Theremin info please

Hi Polanoyx, it sounds a bit as if you're thinking of the theremin as an effects processor or controller of some sort. With the exception of a control voltage-enabled theremin (eg Etherwave Plus) controlling CV-enabled gear (eg a synthesizer or filter etc with CV inputs), the theremin is not actuall...

Re: Are theremin's pitch hand positions unique?

Hi Buffaloris, using the most common playing technique, of different degrees of curvature/extension/splaying of the fingers of the right hand to produce different pitches, it is possible to produce the same pitch with different positions, eg, a note played with fingers extended can also be played wi...

Re: Real Time Control with Envelope

Hi BravePriestess, the easiest way to do this is to use a theremin which puts out control voltages from pitch and volume circuits as well as shaping the theremin's audio signal itself. These CVs can then be used to control anything on a synthesizer which has a CV input (filter cutoff etc). Suitable ...

Hi Julian,

another user, Victoria323, posed a question with similar issues to yours, on the same day. See my response to that message, and my response to another user a few days ago - may be helpful.

Cheers,

Jim F.

Re: A total beginner, needs help!

Hi Victoria323, a few points to check: 1) Is there any metal in the vicinity? Theremin sitting on a table with metal braces directly under it etc? A cable near the antennae? Such things can affect range, dynamics etc. Otherwise, it may need calibrating, although a brand-new, fully assembled instrume...

PS _Don't_ use an American power supply in Europe, the voltages are wrong.
