Re: Rush 2112

It was indeed an ARP Odyssey on that intro. Here's quote from Hugh Syme: ""I was in their studio in Toronto - my first ever visit to their legendarily private inner sanctum - and one thing led to another. Geddy and I were huddled on the floor with my Arp Odyssey synth, operating envelope f...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

The price list from the 1967 Moog short form catalog can be found on Wendy Carlos' website (in the section "On Bob Moog"): http://www.wendycarlos.com/ Early sales records for the Moog modular are available at http://moogarchives.com/ (click on "lists % charts" in the left menu an...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

You're welcome compago :-)

Here's another large (mirrored) photo of Mickey with his Moog probably taken around the same time:

The guy in the background looks like Paul McCartney, doesn't he?

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

Those aren't oak cabinets, they're plywood with veneer. I count only a single 901A controller for the entire system. Did it drive all the 901B VCOs? Note the 901C Output Stage module. You don't see many of those. Zero 960 sequencers. You'd think that would be a standard module in a B&K system. ...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

The "Daily Nightly" video was first shown in the episode "Fairy Tale" which aired on Jan 8, 1968 (Filming date: 11/10/1967): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hknvyT7wEXU In spite of the fact that the Moog can be seen in the video I strongly doubt it was used on the actual recordin...

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

I was told by Bernie Krause that they (Beaver & Krause) usually used their own Moog system* on most of the recording sessions they participated to since the artists who had a Moog couldn't much figure out how to play theirs. This include albums such as "Zodiac. Cosmic sounds","The...

Re: What are your favorite Moog albums?

FYI; that's a Moog modular on ' Son of My Father , both on Moroder's original and Chicory tip's version. Thanks. I was foolish enough to think it was a Mini because that's what they used on Top of the Pops (which was always unreliable when people were miming). I didn't know there was a Georgio Moro...

Sweep wrote:I think I first heard the MiniMoog on pop records like Chicory Tip's Son of My Father, and then on Rick Wakeman's Six Wives. The solos on Anne Boleyn were probably what did it for me.

Re: A little Moog modular goodness

The mods were probably done by someone at Sound Arts sometime in '76 or '77 because Dan Wyman told me a few years ago that they stabilized the older 901s with a stabilizing transistor pair. From what I understand Paul Beaver's model IIIP w/optional sequencer cabinet (and possibly a model 10 as well)...

Re: Star Trek Motion Picture bass synth

The blaster beam parts were performed by Craig Huxley who also did the synth work on Goldsmith's underscore. The synths used on the soundtrack included a Yamaha CS-80, Serge modular, ARP 2600 and Oberheim OB-X. It's a heavily orchestrated score though and from what I remember (it's been a while sinc...

Re: I feel Minimoog love

Thanks to all. Just to be clear, I'm not against sequencers. In fact this song was originally done with sequencers back in 1977 by Giorgio. I just don't have any yet. All I had was a click track as reference. The analog delay doubled the bass line notes in stereo, as was done originally with a tape...

You can add Emil Richards' New sound element 'stones' and The Byrds' "The Notorious Byrd Brothers" to the list of albums that feature Paul Beaver's early Moog.

Re: Micky Dolenz Moog

Cool photos! The actual Moog used on "Daily Nightly" was most likely Paul Beaver's "Synthesizer III" from early '67 since the synth overdubs were made in august '67, over a month before Dolenz received his III-P. Here's a picture of the early model used by Beaver & Krause (th...

Re: synth on "all my love" Zeppelin?

On the studio version of "No Quarter" JP Jones ran the audio signal of the Hohner electra-piano through the EMS VCS3, and modulated
the filter with a sine-wave LFO.
