I don't think you provided enough information or your own troubleshooting for people to be able to provide reasonable help. If you check the UL label on a Voyager you can see that it is rated for 40 watts. Mine operates off of a steady 18 watts, and 20 watts with the backlight fully on. Naturally, this would be higher with a lamp attached.
