It could be the volume oscillator. When yu touch the antenna it resets to zero, and starts it's cycle again, sending a single audible pulse, which I suppose only happens when you turn the thing on. I wouldn't know how to fix it, so if the problem arises I'd just tune the volume so its silent befor ...
