Re: 12vdc PSU providing 16vdc
No worries. I'd always use a regulated adapter of the correct voltage, and which is capable of supplying safely above the required current. The PSU that comes with the Werkstatt is rated at 1.2 amps, which is a lot, and I doubt the Werkstatt ever needs this much. The manual states that the Werkstatt...

Re: 12vdc PSU providing 16vdc
Is your PSU unregulated, or regulated? If it's unregulated, are you measuring its output unloaded? Unregulated supplies will lower their output under load. Otherwise, you could probably work out heat dissipation and check the specs of the Werkstatt's regulator, but that sounds like more work than I'...

Re: 0 vdc signal (seriously noob questions)
Calibrating the Werkstatt is really easy. There are two factors to tuning a VCO: scale, and offset. The first is the gap between notes for a given voltage change, the second is where your notes are positioned along that scale. With the Werkstatt you've only really got one control to worry about and ...

Re: wonky expansion board, no eg?
Two things trigger the envelope: 1) a button push on the Werkstatt's own keyboard, 2) an external gate. You can hook up a positive voltage to the Gate Out on the header, which doubles as an input because Moog didn't include a true Gate Input. I did a mod for this, link in my sig if you're interested...

Re: Kenton Pro Solo with Werkstatt
Glad to hear it! It's been a very popular mod, I'm kind of glad Moog didn't put a gate on there in the first place now

Re: Integrated mods
First of all, I'd say use the area of the Werkstatt PCB with the free holes as much as you can. Any flying wires from there can go to the appropriate sockets, pots, whatever. Drill holes where you want them for your controls and i/o. Pretty straight forward, really. 8) Life has got in the way of syn...

Re: Kenton Pro Solo with Werkstatt
Yeah, the Werkstatt as it comes from the factory does not have a proper Gate input sadly, which is why I designed a modification that provides one ( linky link ). You do need basic DIY skills to make that mod, though. There's also Laurentide's take on the circuit, which is different to mine. I've no...

It is possible, and I'm planning a sync mod Have been too busy lately, but I'll blog it when it's done.

Ah, did not know that – I thought all Stage II models were plug-in-and-go for that.ozfunghi wrote:The early ones can take the CV/gate out mod, but they need to be soldered. I have an early Stage II, which was not "ready to go" with the mod, and it needed to be soldered.

Yeah, mine have yellowed a fair bit, but it lives by a window and gets more sun than it should.

Little Phatty production changes
Just out of curiosity, I wonder what the changes have been to the Little Phatty over time. I have a Stage I, s/n 382, and it has the front panel graphics painted onto the metal, though I've read later units have a printed sticker (eg in this thread ). Any idea when this change took place? Also I bel...

Thanks
Of course if anyone has any mods they'd like to see, I'm happy to consider them.

Re: Patch compatibility between Phatties
OK, thanks - I guess if I lose the LP, I lose my patches too. Might be enough of a reason to keep it after all, or at least pick up a used SP instead for the sake of space. Pity, I quite like the panel on the Sub.
