Re: Little Phatty and MFB Synth Lite II?

I dont have any first hand knowledge of the MFB stuff, but I like you went around asking at one point, and the general consensus that I came back with was they they had a poor build quality. While I would definitely call their stuff "budget", my MFB gear has actually been very reliable (E...

Re: cp-251 version differences

An "attenuator" boosting a signal? You're right - a momentary lapse of reason on my part. At +5 it should just be the same as the incoming level. Routing Noise through the mixer and setting the Offset control should boost your level. I think. *ducks* Anyway, I still think the problem is l...

Re: cp-251 version differences

Would have been nice for a width or range knob for the S/H like ARP units have. That would basically be an attenuator permanently attached to the S&H, instead of keeping with the modular theme and having separate attenuators that you can use for anything. I think the problem is that the Noise i...

Re: Expanding my LP (new)

I sold my Nord Lead 1 in order to afford my Little Phatty. :D They would go great together though. I really liked the Nord, it was hard to give up. But since I can only afford one right now I chose the LP to be my hardware synth while "poly" duties are handled by software. The SEM is a goo...

Bob called it a "bridging" jack in his email, but it is also referred to as a "half normal" jack. Plugging a cable in lifts the "normal" connection. Unplugging the cable lets the metal bend back and make the internal connection. You'll need to use one of these to have i...

A DI box between your bass and the CARRIER IN will fix this. It is probably designed for a line-level signal, and your passive bass guitar is a high-impedance device so it just can't deliver enough juice. Plugging straight into the AUDIO IN with your bass is fine without a DI box, as it was designed...

I consider my rack of Moogerfoogers to be a modular too. Good times. :D

Colorform, you explained it correctly. That should have worked. The OSC OUT is a raw, constant signal. Just like any OSC module - you said you had experience with Doepfer stuff. Same thing would happend if you plugged the output of a Doepfer oscillator directly into your audio mixer. But the Freq do...

spacey soundscapes , various psychedelica and I'm also highly influenced by Pink Floyd , All of the words above are good descriptions of the 103 Phaser. :D Drones would be possible with the setup you described, but it would be an expensive way to start out, and somewhat limiting. I'd recommend gett...

How do you suppose MIDI will help you change the order in which your Moogerfoogers are patched together?

The possibilities are already there - with the MP-201. Or any other MIDI-CV converter.

the cv outputs send out 1V/octave.. .but the inputs track slightly less.. so when i hook up the phattys to each other i need to adjust tuning on the slave... Question - if all you are doing is controlling a second LP with the first, and you want them to be in tune, why use CV? You can achieve this ...

I gotta say that MIDI doesn't seem practical on the other Foogers. It makes sense on the MURF because it lets you do something that you couldn't do before, not even with a separate MIDI-CV converter - it lets you edit patterns. All the other Foogers have CV control over every parameter, and the MP-2...

Re: A REAL Moog

Maybe it's time people stop fetishizing gear simply because someone's name is on it and started buying it because (more importantly) it's useful for creating music. The most talented artists will always find a way to put their own unique "signature" on their music, no matter what gear you...

Re: A REAL Moog

The Voyager, Little Phatty, Taurus III, and Moogerfoogers have the fingerprints of Bob Moog all over them. Was the new Taurus planned before Bob passed? I thought it was after. Even if it was planned before, it appears a lot of the engineering happened after. And the thing sounds bleeping amazing. ...
