Re: Old School - MIDI?

Well, I don't have one (yet).
And I'm only talking about adding one MIDI OUT jack on the back - not a major chop job.
And only if it doesn't require replacing the existing keybed, which is why I want to know what is inside already.
Just curious.

Old School - MIDI?

Does anyone know if the Old School can be modified with a MIDI OUT jack? I haven't looked inside one, but since the keyboard responds to velocity and aftertouch I'm assuming there is some sort of modern digital (*gasp*) type of keybed in there, so I'm wondering if that also means there is MIDI -> CV...

David Smyth wrote:I just wonder why they wouldn't make the Freqbox 1v/octave..
That requires extra "temperature control" circuitry, which would increase the cost.
Since it is sold as an FX pedal they probably figured it wouldn't be an often-used feature.

Re: Old School as Midi Controller??

the Old School's lack of a fixed 1V/oct calibration on the CV input...with that in mind I would actually also prefer to sequence from an analog(ue ! ) unit anyway, but never having used an analogue sequencer before my question is this - presumably the voltage / octave issue becomes irrelevant this ...

Re: Freqbox or RingMod for synthbass with electric bass?

There have been a lot of people on this forum who have voiced much displeasure with the freqbox. I think a lot of people have the misconception that it tracks the pitch of your input and matches it. It doesn't track pitch in any way. It just hard-syncs the internal oscillator, which means every tim...

Re: Little Phatty + Slim Phatty + Oberheim SEM = Perfect.

I have an SEM Pro along with my LP too. The only problem with the Low Note/High Note priority method is that to keep the illusion going you can't lift your finger off a note - you have to play legato style all the time, pressing the next note down before lifting up on the first one. Example - if you...

Re: MF-103 Sweep In, Audio Input?

Audio signals are generally much lower in volume as compared to CV signals. If you plugged your guitar straight into the SWEEP IN (with no preamp or DI box), then that signal was definitely far too weak to have any noticeable effect. As for the iPad's headphone output, I would guess it is too weak a...

Re: Freq box to control pitch???

There is a small pitch to MIDI converter that may do what you're looking for: http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=149 I've never tried one though. And a couple of modular things do this, for instance Analogue Systems makes a pitch to CV converter. I've always been interested in things l...

Re: help with keyboard gate and modular

Did you guys get this issue resolved? Also, how easy is it to attenuate a 1volt per octave CV signal to make the LP track properly? Would one of the attenuators on the CP-251 work OK for this? I imagine it might be hard to dial in the exact right amount of attenuation. I too have a small Eurorack mo...

Re: Freq box to control pitch???

Nope. The Freqbox does not convert pitch to CV. It just does hard sync, it doesn't track pitch at all. It's a common misconception about the MF-107 that most people have.

Re: Lil Phatty CV Upgrade + 104 Spillover Upgrade = Sampler?

Can a repeating sample be tuned to the pitch of the Lil Phatty? Attenuating the PITCH CV would adjust the pitch tracking, but I think it would be very difficult to get it tuned perfectly to the LP. If you need perfect tuning, I think that is the hardest part of your theoretical patch. Everything el...

Re: alesis micron and ring mod

I would contact Moog with your question about the inputs on the Micron if I were you, just to be safe. I don't want to give you any advice that might harm your equipment. I recently read about someone plugging Moogerfoogers into an Alesis Andromeda and it worked fine, but that is a true analog synth...

Re: Triggering MF-101 from an ARP synth

Yeah, full-featured envelopes are one of the things the Moogerfooger line could really use. But you have a CP-251, so you should definitely try out the Gate -> Lag trick that latigid on mentioned earlier. It will get you some basic sounding envelope signals. Set the Rise to zero for a quick attack, ...
