Re: Free Wav to Mp3 COnverter???

I have used CDEX for years. It can rip CD's and convert file types quite easily.

Re: Bass Player wants to add pedals to add keyboard sound. w

I played bass & bass pedals off and on for several years, all small gigs in bars and such, and we never had a keyboard player unless it was me. The best role for the pedals has always been high sustaining strings. As much as everyone loves to rave about that huge Taurus bass sound, it's the high...

Re: Bass Player wants to add pedals to add keyboard sound. w

Rush had the same problem in 1979. The pedals with self-contained sounds are mostly all monophonic. The Moog Taurus III might be the only self-contained unit available as a new product right now. The other way to go is with MIDI pedals, which don't make any sound, just MIDI interface note-on/off com...

I have the procedure from the Moog Taurus II Maintenance manual. Taurus II has the same synth engine as the Rogue, but the pedalboard has only 18 notes from C to F. The Rogue has more keys than that, so I am guessing you have to use only the middle 18 notes on the Rogue keyboard for this procedure t...

Wright did have a few substantial contributions on the Wall. I recall Gilmore saying that although thew writing credits went mostly to Waters, there was a lot of uncredited labor. I believe he said the ethereal organ progression playing behind the famous guitar solo on Another Brick in the Wall Part...

I suspect, that for those whom the article holds the most interest anyway, errors in product nomenclature are insignificant.

Fortunately, this thread gives me the chance to congratulate the author for producing such a fine report!

I am sure a 'Phatty or Voyager could get you something close, but you'd have to multi-track to get all those weird little sounds. I was noodling with a RedSound Darkstar and got something similar in a live situation. That unit is well suited because it has an assignable joystick which allows you to ...

"How can this thing fail?" The new Taurus well definitely sell to a few pros and affectionados. The larger amateur market, however, might compare it to a new Mopho and a set of MIDI pedals at around $900... I prefer not having all those cables, wall-warts, and separate boxes to set up, but...

As I mentioned before, I have played the Taurus II 1.5 octave pedals and found the extra range a mixed blessing. It's great covering a full octave E-E, but the width of the pedal board makes you have to hop around. I got rid of it and I stuck with the Taurus I's and 1-octave MIDI pedals, which I sti...

Aftertouch on a bass pedal? Not sure how that would work given the variety of floors and rugs I end up on. I tried velocity on PK5's, and ended up disabling it. I wouldn't mind having the synth engine respond to those controllers, but in terms of the actual pedals, I am simply not good enough to get...

Yes, Rush's Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres albums both showcase the raw Taurus pedal sounds. On later albums they mixed them with an Oberheim poly, and it gets a little harder to isolate the Taurus sound. I have a Taurus at home, but I play MIDI pedals with my band. I have a Nova to supply the so...

You can scale the keyboard by ear as long as none of the other trim pots are out of alignment ... but you won't know that unless you use the volt meter.

Assuming the Rogue is exactly the same as the Taurus II, here is what is in the Taurus II manual: (warm up 15 minutes) 1. Set Glide control (R13) to minimum 2. Use a digital volt meter to measure voltage at tip of KEYBOARD IN/OUT jack J1 (note: this is NOT the audio output) 3. Alternately depress lo...

Saw it on VH1 today.

I think he even played a note on his Taurus ... not quite sure, though.
