midiphy LoopA

Maybe the Moog crowd might also be interested in the LoopA DIY kit: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/14436_klpa00d_1.jpg The LoopA is designed as a fun and straightforward MIDI sequencer device that turns jams into whole tracks. The software was optimised for live playing with "smart&...

Re: where is everybody?

I mostly visit MW and MIDIbox, little bit of MI. Too busy in the past years working and building new stuff and I haven't bought anything new let alone anything Moog for a while now. I probably check the Moog forum every month or two. I came here today because it looks like Behringer is working on cl...

Re: RIP Moogerfooger

I'll also reiterate what others have said: Moogerfoogers were extremely influential on my music, interests and life. I first heard about the MF-102 sometime in 2004. I was interested in ring mod sounds from Mike Einziger and Omar Rodríguez-López, and lo and behold, one came up for sale on the New Ze...

Re: Claim of delays on Grandmother on Gearslutz

I've heard there is a delay on e.g. ceramic capacitors at the moment (see: mutable instruments).

Instead of NAMM, Moog does their own thing

http://www.musicradar.com/news/namm-2018-step-inside-the-moog-house-of-electronicus Moog tends to do very organic showcases; I saw a cool one at Superbooth 2016. Some of the setups in this "House of Moog" are really creative. It's not just about putting products in the spotlight, rather yo...

Re: MF-104M with analog sequencer

The Pan control expects a bipolar CV of -2.5 to +2.5V (IIRC, RTM). Try patching the sequencer gate through the mixer, with the offset set negative. You can trim the incoming voltage using the 1st or 2nd input and pot if it's not +5V. If abrupt change is too harsh, patch the output of the mixer via t...

Re: MF-104M with analog sequencer

You can use the Voyager as a very expensive VCA :) Run the audio through the external input (switched on) with all other VCOs turned off. Unless you want some filtering, VCF cutoff should be fully open with no resonance, amount = 0. Patch the Oberkorn gate (check if the voltage is compatible) to the...

Re: MF-104M with analog sequencer

What other gear do you have? Easiest would involve your gate triggering an envelope generator controlling a VCA (will get clicky otherwise). Run the audio through the VCA into the 104M input. Or, use a trigger/gate-to-MIDI module, with the MIDI message configured to bypass the MF-104M in spillover m...

Re: Moog Music Inc dragging their feet

Very sorry if it seemed I was criticizing your position personally. I recognize my position is the outlier totally. I just play Bass in a folk band on my model D and use all my other stuff for drones when we jam. That is not the typical use of a synth by any stretch.... All good, I don't feel criti...

Re: Moog Music Inc dragging their feet

I guess I cant relate when people say Moog synths are limited because I think of synths as instruments and not as machines...... I know I am in the minority though. My synths all sound incredible. I am not upset that they dont do more. I say this as a Voyager owner, and I appreciate that different ...

Re: Moog Music Inc dragging their feet

The trend at the moment seems everything miniaturised. Korg's Volcas have done very well and Elektron have ditched the "Machine" format for something different in the Digitakt. It's easy to convince people (especially musicians) to buy many small things over one big one. So Moog continues ...

Re: MuRF Step Adapter?

Presumably you have a positive 0-> 5V gate, so if I'm getting this right, the MuRF would step 180 degrees out of phase or as the gate signal was released. Here's the circuit to convert V gates into S trigs: http://www.retrosynth.com/docs/trigger/moog_trigger-convert.jpg Should also work to run the s...

Re: MuRF Step Adapter?

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure the MuRF uses an "S-trig" for the tap/step jack. This means it triggers on the falling edge of a clock or gate, or is done with a normally closed (push to open) footswitch. If this behaviour is unwanted, you could also build in the infamous S-trig con...

Re: MuRF Step Adapter?

How do you want to trigger/clock the MuRF? The simplest way would be to solder a TRS cable to 2*TS plugs or sockets, with the sleeve wired to both. You could also adapt your footswitch or a special cable to be wired on the ring terminal instead. Another way is to buy a 1/4" stereo plug to 2* mo...

This is a periscope video I captured during the 2017 Moogfest Engineering class. http://www.doctorsteve.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/MoogFest-DFAM-Multi-sync.mp4 The audio is terrible and the video is low res, but it'll give you an idea of what went down when we finished our rigs, until the high ...
