Roland KC vs Traynor

Hi, I'm considering picking up a Traynor K4 keyboard amp. I currently use a Roland KC550 and have used KC's for over 10 years. Besides losing an occasional tweeter, I've found these amps to hold up quite well under heavy gigging conditions. I'm just looking to see (and hear) if the Traynor K4 sounds...

Re: Recommended DI boxes for the stage

I used my Radial JDI at 2 shows this weekend. Both shows I had it connected to my Alesis Andromeda which is used for String and Brass sounds (along with the occasional lead or punchy clavinet type sound). My other boards (Moog Voyager and Yamaha P90) went through Radial Pro DI's supplied by the soun...

Re: Recommended DI boxes for the stage

Thanks for all of the comments so far! Decisions, decisions.... Here's where I'm at. Rack mount or free standing.... I would say free standing as I have zero rack gear currently and I'm fine with having a few small metal boxes in one of my gig bags or on the floor by my amp during shows. Multi input...

Recommended DI boxes for the stage

I'm looking to add some high quality passive DI boxes to my live rigs (analog and digital keyboards). After some research I picked up a Radial Engineering JDI as I believe in my limited understanding of DI's, that they are a good, solid, high quality product. I'll be using it at a show this Friday h...

Re: Moog muSonics Series V

I sold mine for just over $2000 around 2 years ago. It was in decent condition (missing a slider cap, scaling was a tiny bit off, whined a little). I put a few clips on youtube and listed it on ebay, and was happy with what it sold for. It all comes down to who wants to buy it. Just represent it for...

Re: Why OPUS 3??

I'm a little late in getting to this but Herb Deutsch originally wanted to call the "Opus 3" the "SOB" but they wouldn't go for it.

Re: To Sub or Not to Sub...

What do you mean by "Have you tried them without bypassing the speakers?" Both the Voyager and Taurus 3 sound great through a pair of Roland KC550's when used during moderately loud performances in small and mid sized clubs, as well as outdoor events in front of up to 200 or so people. Aft...

Re: To Sub or Not to Sub...

I'm still researching subs but I wanted to share this... I played my first show with Taurus 3's at my feet this past weekend and they sounded absolutely incredible! I used a KC550 as a keyboard monitor and DI'd into the pa (2 15" tops 1 18" sub and 3 12" monitor wedges). People were b...

To Sub or Not to Sub...

I use 2 Roland KC550's for my live set up (Voyager,Andromeda, T3, XK3 and Pianos). Now that there's a T3 in the mix I'm thinking on adding a sub. I'm considering the KCW-1 by Roland (seems like it would make sense to add it). It's either that or go full PA with tops and subs. I'd appreciate any thou...

Re: Where do I put the Taurus 3?

I finally got my Taurus 3 and wanted to update this thread. While the layout is still a work in progress, I wanted to share where I'm at right now. I had been using X stands to hold my keyboards for the longest time. I needed to find a spot for the T3 so I picked up an On Stage Z stand. Not only was...

Expected Lifespan of Your Typical Voyager

My Voyager is about 6 years old now and it's held up very well. I've played it at hundreds of gigs and countless rehearsals and it is just starting to hint that it needs to be scaled. Honestly tho, It sounds so nice just a tiny bit off here and there that I might hold of on tuning it for now. It tra...

Boss RE-20

I use an RE 20 with my Voyager (I know you want info for a LP) and I think it sounds great. It's well made, reliable, has reverb, tap tempo and is stereo.

Heres a demo of it.

Where do I put the Taurus 3?

Thanks! I am grateful for all that I have. I hear what you're saying about having the Moog logo visible to the audience, after all you do have to look good when you're playing! I usually set myself stage right on an angle so the audience can at least see my hands moving. Once I have the Taurus I'll ...

Where do I put the Taurus 3?

I'm trying to figure out where to place the Taurus 3 pedals in my setup. My rig consists of 4 keyboards and 3 amps. 3 keyboards are in front of me: Top - Alesis Andromeda on a double x stand Middle - Hammond XK3 and bottom- Yamaha P90 on a double tier, double x stand Beneath the 3 of them are 3 peda...

What are you going to play this monster thru?

I am a keyboardist / vocalist and I'll be running mine thru 2 Roland KC550's and a Mackie 808s into Yamaha S115iv's. I'm not sure about what effects I'll be using. Roland amps have never let me down. I've used them for many years, I still have my first KC500 from at least 12 years ago. I've taken it...
