Its often the case that if you change your pots from linear to log you get usability throughout the range. My homemade synths are the same as your dotcom modular. 2 degree useful range. I recall Amos said the pots on the LP were linear so maybe there are expo converters on the CVs after the pots. Tang

Anyone know any more about when the UK some Little Phatties?
The latest I know is that the delivery has been delayed for
a month (est arrival 28th of May).
As it's Turnkey I have heard a different date each time I ring up.
What did you hear Maxfeller?

Too few Phatty stages in UK
I write to lament the absence of Phatty stages in the UK. Laid down my deposit in Turnkey London more than a month ago. Last week apparently a handful of Phatties arrived and were dispatched to the lucky few who were before me in laying down their dough. Apparently I'm number 20 in line. Is it reall...

Interesting thread. I'm the other way round to thewaag - I love delay and use reverb usually only on the whole mix. Delay can really transform a patch into something else. I agree that like all synths when auditioning the patches a bit of delay/reverb sorts things out. Funny though, when playing liv...

I can give you 30% of a useful answer. A few weeks ago I was surfing around and found a video describing what I remember to be the incorporation of Cyril Lance into the Moog team and the Little Phatty project. It had some footage of Cyril Lance working on a later Phatty prototype board. I could make...

Hi, I'm not much of a filter expert but when you switch between two and four poles the phase shift will be different (regardless of cutoff frequency). I can't think of any components downstream that will care unless you mix with the original signal but here is a madcap theory: If you break a PWM wav...

Ouch. Too difficult! Favourites? KEYBOARDISTS: Rick Wakeman, (first heard 7 wives as a boy in 1980) Stevie Wonder, Rick Wright (his playing to me is so sublime) SYNTHESISTS: Brian Eno Ed Wynne (Ozric Tentacles) Geir Jennsen (Biosphere) Dave Greenslade (because of the Pentateuch - the first ever synt...

The link for Oakley soundsystems is: http://www.oakleysound.com/ A bit of PR for them: they sell nice supper ladder filter PCBs and their oscillators cards are based on the minimoog too. You can buy a TB303 clone PCB card which includes a fully programmed microprocessor for midi-CV duties. Sounds gr...

Two points that might be worth considering. 1) Tha Paia VCA/Mixer module that the above link refers to has an ADSR envelope that can cycle iteslf so there is no need to retrigger it. The problem with using it as an LFO is that the kit LFOs are 5 M Ohm linear pots and should be logarithmic as when yo...

Hi Marc, Nice chatting with you. I would be interested in hearing your take on the science documentaries you see... you must be horrified. I, not being anything remotely similar to a physicist, have seen documentaries that make some very dubious statements! Yeah, I never and I mean never see documen...

Hiya Museslave, Thought I could provide a bit of extra info about what you watched that may or may not pacify you. You also might be interested to know why I thought the documentary was good. Just to put things in perspective I'm a London based Physicist and do a fair ammount of teaching, currently ...

Hi Amos, Thanks! I am so pleased to hear that Moog Music now have the right to use their name in the UK! That is fantastic news! Any press releases planned to announce this important moment? I'm sure Sound on Sound would want to report it. Will the first batch your company plans to ship out to Turnk...

Thanks Robles. Makes sense. I feel like Watson. Its a tough job doing what Moog Music do and you can never keep everybody happy! Learning about the LP stage's reduced RAC set was a bit ouchy for me as I always thought that the Real Analogue Control compensated for the minimal features in the LP modu...
