Re: 104 problems

As far as the feedback with the expression pedal goes, I've run into a similar issue. If I have the knob set past zero and push the expression pedal all of the way, then the feedback cuts out somewhat. I've compensated by just not pushing the pedal the full way.

You seem to have a couple different ...

Do most Murf owners find the click to be pretty loud/obtrusive? I'm wondering if latigid on's unit is particularly bad with this or representative of most Murf's.

Hey Nick, the 101 has an envelope follower and not an envelope generator so there's not anything that a signal needs to trigger. The envelope follower will 'follow' the volume contour of whatever signal (guitar, drum, vocal, whatever) the pedal is processing.

Great point about the bandwidth. I hadn't thought about that at all.

Ok, I'm not very technically orientated (I know others like OysterRock have actual engineering/physics backgrounds, I do not at all). But attenuating a cv signal is analogous to putting an audio signal through a volume control (like a volume pedal or a voltage controlled amplifier/vca). So both ...

Bentropy,
I haven't messed around with delays and cv, but I know there's some other posts in the forum about people doing so without damaging their equipment. If you have the 251 you can always use the mixer to make sure that the voltage doesn't get out of hand. CV signals are just like audio ...

The 251 is great and will add a lot with the 101 and 102. It took me a while to realize this, but the amount control is basically a vca. Moog doesn't make a vca, but there's equipment out there you can use as a "voltage controlled attenuator"

Do you get a clicking when you're using the triangle lfo and the second s&h output? If it's just with the s&h output 1 and the square lfo, then it's normal. Send the signal through the lag processor and then adjust both the rise and fall until the clicking is gone. The jumps in the cv signal cause ...

Mine is pretty noisey all around. One poster talks about adding shielding to the inside of the 101 in the above thread

I can't remember exactly off the top of my head, but the lfo out on the 102 only goes +/- 1.5 volts (or something like that and the carrier out is that or less). So if you're using that to sweep the 101's cutoff freq then that's why you're getting a limited response.

The 251's lfo is +/- 2.5 volts ...

Greg,
I've used my CP with audio so I know it's not a bandwith issue, but I get a bleedthrough from the lfo resulting in a continuous loud clicking. I assumed it was just a limitation of the CP, but it seems like it just might be my unit...

Impossible Sound,
So you used the mixer on the 251 to get an inverted signal. Did you use another mixer to combine the inverted and original signals? Does your 251 mixer add an audible clicking (at the rate the square wave) when you use it for audio?

Eric,
That's a really interesting idea... I wonder if it would actually work out in practice.

Unfortunately I don't think that the 251 would be the tool to use, you'd need to have something else to invert the audio and then mix the two signals. I tried using the 251's mixer with audio and there's a ...

I'd vote for something new and different. Bring out something unconventional like the Murf instead of treading familiar territory with time-based effects, an overdrive, or a sequencer.

I think that Moog does really well as a halfway point between the modular and guitar pedal makers. They seem ...
