Logic express is a very feature packed platform. No, it's not free I think it's $100? But in addition to basic sequencing (multitrack recording with wave editing) you get tons of apple loops, soft synths, quality effects and pro features. Also as you get more comfortable with it, you can move up to ...

I'm thinking about the iMac as well. Although I know as soon as I buy it they will release the intel duo tower that will blow everything away. I do have a question though. I like using 2 monitors with Logic, do iMacs support this. I know it's got mini DV out but I'm talking about the monitor set up ...

Obviously synthfool is a pro and knows way more about the topic than most all of us, I'm guessing. So if he thinks Caig products are bad, imagine what the Radio Shack ones do! That was the main point of my post. Spraying some stuff into your synth is not a replacement for having it gone over by a pr...

This company CAIG (caig.com) makes amazing lubricants, cleaners, conductivity boosters etc. I use them on all my synths and I can't reccomend them enough. Jeez, they really should be paying me for this plug but seriously, their products are great and their website is very informative. They even have...

I have an AE signed by Dr. Bob in silver paint pen on the strip of wood above the keys. I've seen this mentioned in other posts. Anybody else have one? Or know how many AEs are signed like this? Just looking down at his signature everytime I play is so inspiring! If there was a fire in my Apt. my gi...

Wow, this is all really deep and I think I have a much simpler view on the whole thing. My studio is my sonic playground. I have filled it with fun, useful and musical tools/toys. All of a which are at my disposal at any time to use in any combination I want. Often I put digital machines through ana...

I find this thread fascinating (if not a little geeky). Big thanks to the posters who took the time to make the MP3s. I'd love to hear more side by side comparisons. I've only played a "D" once but I know my AE Voyager sounds amazing and very close to what I hear on the "classic"...

I'm gonna stay on topic. First off, if $1000 is a budget synth you must be making a lot of money or live nowhere near NYC. I bought my JUP-6 for $850 and that is a lot of synth! Here are my choices: (actually budget) The Micron: It does some things the ION doesn't and it has the same sounds! Casio C...

The Kenton stuff is great. I use the Pro Solo with my Sequential Pro-One. I don't think you can control the ARP speed with it, but why not send it from another modern keyboard? (Just be sure to turn off "local control" on the new keyboard!) The Pro Solo has it's own LFO and you can sync th...

The A to Z Books

Hey all, I just recieved the A-Z of Analogue Synthesizers books and they are amazing. There is tons of info on Moogs and all the classics as well as some truly weird one-offs. Forrest even includes a little pricing and collectability graph. These are hard to find, but I got mine on E-bay--signed. I ...

Dr. Bob always talked about an almost spiritual connection he had with the circuits. That he could feel what was going on inside. He's put a little of that into each and every instrument with his name on it so we can access his spirit everytime we turn them on. We are lucky.

Hey everybody! I'm new here and just had to throw my hat into the ring on this one. Some one mentioned it earlier but my Jupiter 6 keeps my Voyager very satisfied. Add the Europa upgrade to the Jup and you have a true analog beast with full midi functionality. Programmed right, the Jup 6 will peel t...
