Re: moog modular forum

GearSlutz? Not really the same. The thing is MuffWiggler has the overwhelming majority of members are modular synth users or soon to be users. GearSlutz is far more a free for all of people with no real interest in anything even hardware based voicing an opinion let alone an interest in modular synt...

Re: Realistic MG-1 Polyphony

Regarding the chords thing. Actually something that really gets me because it's so obvious. Though people used to monophonics just don't play that way and may not immediately "get" it -- playing a solo line on a real polysynth you can have the release of the previous note still going on wh...

Re: moog modular forum

Though it is fair to say the topic surely will generate far more forum questions and dialog than say the 500 series. I suggest muffwiggler and have been there for years though be prepared for 2 out of 3 posts saying the old or new moog they only saw on youtube is insanely expensive and the only synt...

Re: A modern polyphonic moog?

For usable polyphony you really need the ability to slave one set of parameter knobs to every poly voice. This is something that a lot of people who haven't assembled some sort of poly composite instrument out of multiple mono instruments just don't realize. While it's true that doing a "round ...

Re: Realistic MG-1 Polyphony

Have not heard of the Poly section dying as a common failure. Would not want to guess what part of it went bad but yeah it might be something minor or lots of money not that you have to fix it. Disagree that it would be hard to happen, something in there could easily fail rendering just that portion...

Re: Landmark 50th Anniversary of the Moog Modular

While it's wishful thinking for a system like that to land on one's doorstep (and then have to figure out how to move it), quite a few, well maybe not lots, but some people have built systems that size a few modules at a time. While certain very certain aspects of this system are unique to Emerson's...

Re: Moog Model D + Solina String Ensemble MK I

Not the greatest authority as I don't have a Solina, but Solina was imported as an Arp product so it would presumably be an Arp signal, presumably a standard sort of gate out (though "trig" sometimes can be a head scratcher if a builder is serious and really and only means a short pulse, b...

Re: R.A.Moog old school ring modulator clone

Great project! And thanks for the build pics. Love that sort of documentation. For someone more beginner or not with a Moog Modular I thought this link might be of interest, though being passive there are level issues not faced with a more complex design- http://cgs.synth.net/modules/cgsrr.html Don'...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?

I seem to remember something about a contest, back in the late '90 early 2000, for selecting the name of the future synth that was to become the Voyager ? Am I right about this ? I actually sent in "Voyager" to the contest then when Moog Music announced the name at midnight they didn't an...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?

Brian, was there any indication in your records as to what the Voyager might have been called in lieu of rights to use his own name? Eric When Bob regained legal title in the USA, he officially stopped using Big Briar. That said if you look at early Moogerfoogers, the front panel in direct view has...

Re: Moog Music UK 90s Minimoog?

Historically Bob Moog had long sold his ownership in the original R.A. Moog Co. in 1971 and then left working for the company (Moog Music) in 1977. My understanding was the Minimoog was discontinued after about a decade of production in 1981 because it was expensive to build so it hits a situation w...

Re: MF-104MSD?

Just curious if anyone has logged which chips and how many are in each of the 104 Foogers (104, 104Z, 104SD, 104M, 104MSD). Just curious, no real agenda other than comparison. I am kind of perplexed since I currently own the 104SD which has a longer max delay (1400 vs 1200ms on the new MSD) and lowe...
