Any decent program with a sequencer has the ability to send out midi controller data. A lot of people are suggesting Ableton Live. The big reason to go for Ableton is it's ability to be used as a pattern sequencer. That is, you create short phrases that you mix and match to create songs on the fly i...

That controller lane at the bottom of your key editor can send changes to any midi controller number you want to send it to. Every function on the LP that responds to midi (just look at the midi controller list of the LP manual) can be changed by simply selecting the appropriate midi controller numb...

Cubase works fine for sending midi signals into the LP. If you have a version with midi effects units you can do things like send LFO's to any function that responds to midi. I really like the high resolution of the pitch bend on the LP and Cubase records it quite nicely with full resolution. I ofte...

You, uh, tried to, um, load an update for the Stage Edition into the, um, Tribute Edition?

Can someone please break all these suggestions down into a single list? Here's the list so far. I have omitted suggestions which are not possible due to hardware constraints, and it is possible (I haven't checked this thoroughly) that not all of these suggestions can be implemented on the Tribute E...

Garageband looks like it should work. Just import the OS onto a midi track and play it into the LP. I believe your tempo should be set at the default of 120bpm. BTW Midi-Ox is for PC only. Or better yet, I just checked the manual for the OS update and for Mac, it suggests using SysEx Librarian avail...

I'm the opposite of Lil Fatty. I go for racks rather than keyboards. You can get cluttered really quick with keyboards. I'd rather have a couple of really good controller keyboards, and tons of rack mounts. Then you're not stuck with whatever keyboard they try to foist on you with your synth. What a...

Something I think is crucial for taking full advantage of the external input: A way to turn off all midi CC transmission, but allow transmission of note on gate and pitch wheel. This way you could use a second synth as an external source played into the LP but still make adjustments on the LP withou...

Your biggest difficulty with the LP in a mix is that it is one line and has no effects, so it comes out very dry and sticks out like a sore thumb. My best suggestion is a light stereo chorus or a very short stereo delay to broaden it in the stereo spectrum. You'll retain the character of the LP with...

I still say there has to be some drop down box on the audio track itself for selecting midi inputs. I use Cubase and while I haven't checked the audio tracks, I do know for fact that each midi track has a drop down box for selecting which midi port it will receive data in from. You can choose All I...

The best thing to remember is what the filter envelope is actually doing. It is essentially moving the cutoff knob for you. The amount it moves is the envelope amount on the filter section, which can be positive or negative (halfway on the dial is zero, right is positive, left is negative). In othe...
