Re: Matriarch – Aftertouch needs a lot of pressure

I am currently comparing the aftertouch on my Matriarch and Model-D. My Matriarch seems to work reasonably well, in my opinion. It is hard, of course, to gauge what you mean by a “lot of pressure”. My suggestion, for comparison on these keyboards is this: Press firmly near the end of a white key whi...

Re: New model D problems

Sorry to hear about your issues, Quatschmacher. I’m sure that must be very disappointing. I am lucky that my 2022 seems to be (almost) flawless. Hopefully, you can get your issues resolved soon. I have fallen in love with my Mini, and hope that you can have the same experience. I definitely agree th...

Re: Problem with 2022 minimoogs aftertouch

By the way, I just put the aftertouch of my Matriarch on the oscilloscope, and it shows very smooth and controllable output. (Maybe the curve could be a bit better, but it is very usable.) So it is even more curious how Moog can’t seem to get this right on the Model D. Especially as they paid a lot ...

No doubt. Has anyone reverse engineered the schematic?

Re: Problem with 2022 minimoogs aftertouch

Yes, it is pretty broken. I’m surprised this didn’t get improved for the 2022 update. I put my aftertouch voltage on an oscilloscope and it really is essentially binary! It will out zero volts or maximum (depending on attenuator). One can see that it smoothly slews between these extremes, but I cann...

Re: Question about the WAVE Out jack

The Wave Out jack should not interrupt any normal connections. Instead, plug a dead cable (other end disconnected) into the mixer input that you would like to disable.

Re: Matriarch: multiple oscs sound is phasey, volume and bass loss

Your example, in my opinion, sounds like very normal oscillator phasing. Indeed, the oscillator tuning sounds very stable with a low beat rate. It is simply a fact that two square waves of equal amplitude will nearly cancel out when they approach 180 degree relative phase. Depending on waveform symm...

Re: Matriarch Mixer output range and overdrive?

I don’t have access to my notes right now, but your measurements all look normal to me. The CP3-inspired mixer is famously asymmetrical in clipping. This is considered a desirable sonic feature. I don’t think there is any DC shift. Notice the zero crossings are about the same for both waveforms. The...

Re: Matriarch - chorus patch with delay

Forgive me for not be able to test until Tuesday. But did you already try fastest Delay time, zero feedback and 50% wet? That’s in addition to what you are already doing with the attenuator to send very little modulation and trying fast and slow LFO times. Yes, I have tried every combination of kno...

Re: Matriarch - chorus patch with delay

This article plus comments has some relevance: https://electricdruid.net/investigations-into-what-a-bbd-chorus-unit-really-does/ The rate modulation unfortunately changes the pitch so people use non-triangle modulation waveshapes to try to minimize the wackiness. Thanks! That's a really good articl...

Matriarch - chorus patch with delay

Hi All, I recently bought a Matriarch, and I love the overall sound and feel (except the sliders :?) I anticipated having a lot of fun with the voltage-controllable stereo delay. But so far, I have found it to be very frustrating and I wonder if I misunderstand the operation, or maybe my unit has a ...
